When it comes to planning your wedding, one of the main aspects you can really get creative with is your wedding tables. The wedding reception can give you the chance to pull off the Wow factor! From modern and minimalistic table arrangements to high glam decoration, to rustic chic. What ever your vibe, you can let rip with the wedding decoration and go all out with the table decor. Today I am going to look into the different areas you have to work with and give you a few options.
First of all let’s look at the way the tables are going to be set out at your wedding reception. Now depending on what kind of vibe you are going for will determine what sort of lay out you are looking at. if you are gong for formal sit down dinner, you will probably want to go for a more traditional round table that traditionally sits 8-10 guests. This will make it easier for the waiting staff to get round to each guest to serve the food. However if you are looking for a more relaxed reception where the food is served family style you may opt for long tables, this option works especially well in barn venues. If you are looking for something elegant and sophisticated then why not try square tables instead of round tables, this gives the guests more room per table and gives a more dramatic look to the reception. An experienced luxury wedding planner can also help determine which table layout best complements your venue, guest count, and overall wedding style while ensuring the space feels both beautiful and functional.
Table lined can really add a different dimension to a wedding reception. Tables can be dressed ‘up’ by incorporating, different colours and textures or dressed ‘down’ by eliminating table linen all together. For a more formal wedding the classic white table linen works well, and then adding in a pop of colour with napkins. Personally I love it when the decor is mixed up with different coloured table clothes and bold coloured table runners. Layers of different fabrics, spilling over onto the floor to create a dramatic look, or soft chiffons to create a more romantic soft effect. Napkins, runners and table cloths can all add the accent colour to tie in your colour scheme.
As with the table linen, choosing dinnerware can really add a touch of elegance to your wedding reception. By choosing modern dinnerware your wedding breakfast can go from pretty to pretty amazing! If you are opting for a sophisticated affair then white bone china may be your bag. However if you are looking for something to make a statement then why not add in a splash of colour with your plates and crockery. Your dinnerware can really add that extra element to your whole table ‘look’
Where do I start with the flowers!! I blooming love flowers! Personally if I was planning my wedding again and had a never ending budget, there would be flowers everywhere!! Flowers offer so much variety and so many different options when it comes to decorating your wedding table. You can go BIG with large scale decorations, or keep it small with simple bud vases. Flowers can be kept low and long, acting as table runners or big and high, creating a dramatic effect in your reception. The wedding tables are the perfect place to really go to town with your wedding flowers, the possibilities are endless.

The lighting at your wedding reception can really set the tone and add some extra atmosphere. Adding candle sticks to your table arrangements can give you an extra feeling of sophistication. They can add Hight and levels and can be brought in to work alongside the flowers. If you want something more subtle and less dramatic then why not try tea lights or jam jars instead to keep the lighting low to the table.
There are so many ways your wedding tables can make your wedding reception come to life, I have mentioned just few here. It’s up to you to take your ideas and run with them. Take your original theme or look for the day and let your tables do the talking. The possibilities are endless and with so many ideas and resources at your finger tips your wedding day can be as personal as you want it to be.
