Hannah and Jonah’s ‘Beach Disco Party’ Colourful Wedding in Florida Keys by Tiffany Maysonet Photography

I love a wedding when the couple really make the day about themselves! Today’s wedding is one of those. Hannah and Jonah originally planned a classic black and white wedding in the Florida Keys,  keeping it traditional However a few weeks before the wedding they completely changed it up and opted for bright coloured wild flowers and lots of disco balls. They chose a DJ for their entertainment and partied all night on the beach listening to house music! I love this idea, keeping things fluid and going with your gut and making big brave changes when you feel it’s the right thing to do. I just love the results, the bright flowers are just stunning, the colours really pop against the beach backdrop. As for the disco balls, in my opinion, you can never get enough disco balls! Big thanks to Tiffany Maysonet Photography  for the delightful images.

We skipped all the major wedding traditions. Our day was about having plain old fun, listening to house music, and dancing the night away with our closest friends.

Hannah and Jonah were married on 14th January 2023  at Casa Marina Key West. Hannah and Jonah stated that their vision for their wedding day was “beach disco party”. The couple wanted their guests to let loose and party with them in the sun…what better place than the Florida, Keys? Casa Marina has many different event spaces but the couple was especially drawn to its secluded beach. Hannah worked with her florist to bring bright colourful flowers to the sandy beaches of Casa Marina! They had 70 guests and it took 10 months to plan.

How they met
Jonah and Hannah met on their first day of high school. They didn’t officially start dating until senior year but they were destined for each other. The two moved to Florida for college and graduated from FSU side by side. The Baldwins are passionate about rescuing animals, (their dog Jameson and their cat, Penny). The two have been best friends for over a decade and explain that each year together just gets sweeter!

The proposal
Jonah proposed in the same spot where the two took their high school prom pictures! They were celebrating their six year anniversary that very night. Hannah thought they were just grabbing dinner and then staying at a hotel for the evening but to her surprise, Jonah blindfolded her in the car and drove her to the spot. He surprised her again by having her mom, step dad, dad, and step mom all there ready to celebrate with them!

How did you allocate your budget?
The two had three true priorities when allocating their budget to achieve their dream wedding:
First, their venue (Casa Marina), their wedding planner (Destination Wedding Studio), and
the team they chose to capture their day (Tiffany Maysonet Photography and JTC Films)
Their planner, photographer and videographer made the entire day completely stress-free.
Their main recommendation to any bride or groom is to prioritise that team of individuals.

How did you choose your photographer?
From Bride: Crazy story actually… about 6 months before our wedding, our original photographer found out she was pregnant and was due near our date. We were completely overjoyed for her, but it meant we were in search for a new photographer. I can remember panicking and thinking, how on earth are we going to find another photographer that we love within 6 months of our date? I found Tiffany on Instagram and fell completely in love with the way she captured love, the raw and candid moments, and felt like every single one of her photos told a story. I was certain she would be unavailable on our date, but we reached out, got on a call with Tiffany shortly after, and she made our dreams come true. We maybe spoke for 15 minutes on that first phone call, but I trusted her immediately, we
hit it off, and her style of photography was perfectly in line with what we were looking for. It was a match made in heaven!

The Outfits
Hannah’s dress was from Lighthouse Bridal and she wore the “Made with Love/Eisie
Jonah rented his suit from a suit shop in West Palm, Studio Men’s Wear.

Theme or colour scheme
The couple wanted all things colour! Hannah partnered with her incredible florist, Duarte Floral Design, to bring her vision of colour to life. Vivid shades of yellow, lavender, blue and peach florals were the highlight of the wedding decor. Accents of shiny disco balls were also used to elevate the colour pallet! The Baldwin wedding was a mix between toes in the sand and disco party!

Flowers
There was just about every type of flower at the wedding! Roses, wildflowers, orchids, ect. The ceremony had two lush organic flower pillars on either side of the bride and groom. The reception tables were flooded with small arrangements in woven baskets!

Decoration
Disco balls, linen tablecloths, woven vases, and woven placemats! The space was filled with a mix of modern and boho!

Entertainment
The couple hired DJ Gyver. They are passionate about music and thought he would be the perfect fit for their celebratory evening!

Where did you go on your honeymoon?
Spain!

Personal touches
The couple originally planned on having a classic style/themed (white & black) wedding but soon decided a couple weeks before the wedding it didn’t feel like them. They decided to make a last-minute switch to wildflowers and disco balls! They love to go to music festivals with all their friends and wanted to bring all the colourful and fun to their wedding! The couple also created an EDM power hour playlist with the DJ to really bring the festival atmosphere to their evening.

Special moments
The highlight of their wedding day was the ceremony. Even surrounded by 100 people, it felt like it was just the two of us up there. The day couldn’t have been more perfect.

Advice for other couples
“Don’t rush it. And don’t make choices for other people. It’s your wedding, do it your way!”

Biggest surprise
Because the couple is non traditional, they were surprised that their wedding ceremony was their favourite part of the entire wedding! They explained that they felt so loved by being surrounded by their “tribe of people”. Although the ceremony may have been short, it is a scene that will live on in their hearts forever!
