Jeremy and Maqaiya’s Green and Gold Glamorous Boho Wedding in California by True Photography

Happy Friday everyone, I hope you are all well and happy and looking forward to the weekend ahead. After a busy two weeks, the first spent in Disneyland Paris and the second at Camp Bestival in Dorset I am looking forward to a weekend at home. We are off to York on Saturday and then back Saturday night for a family get together. Sunday I have a day in the office trying to catch up on my work and get some life admin sorted. What about you? To end the week I have this gorgeous glamorous Boho wedding from California. The couple went for a green and gold colour scheme and mixed it up with pampas grass, feathers and some beautiful flowers. The outdoor ceremony is stunning and the reception is full of the most gorgeous decoration. Big thanks to True Photography for the lovely images.

Our wedding day was a beautiful timeless celebration of two worlds combining together. We were surrounded by family, friends, love, tears of joy, peace, laughter and that was all we could ever want or need.

Maqaiya and Jeremy were married on 11th April 2025 at Fallbrook, CA Grand Tradition Estate & Gardens- Arbor Terrace. ‘Jeremy loves the water and I love the mountains. California gave us the best of both worlds. Originally Ohio was our #1 choice but something about it did not feel complete. Jeremy had joked about getting married in California but initially it was hard for me to wrap my head around traveling across the country to get married (we live in Indiana). Jeremy requested a brochure from Grand Tradition Estate & Gardens and we both fell in love. So much so that I cancelled our trip to Ohio and booked our wedding with Grand Tradition. We were set to leave one Friday evening after work to Ohio but when Jeremy came home from work that Thursday, I said “Honey we aren’t going to Ohio tomorrow. I booked the venue in California!” We had 114 guests and it took 2 years to plan.’

Earthy Tones and Vintage Vibes: How to Style a Boho Wedding with Nature-Inspired Elements

A wedding does not have to be a matter of tradition and stress; it should be about you, your style, your individuality, and the celebration of your love. Boho weddings have recently surged in popularity, as an alternative to the stiff traditional ones. They give couples the freedom to infuse their personalities into every aspect of their special day.

If you are considering tying the knot in an atmosphere full of natural elements, relaxed ambiance and eclectic décor, Boho is the way to go. You will have that wedding that you and everyone else will remember with fondness and warmth for years to come.

Colour Palette: Embracing Earthy Hues

The foundation of any Boho wedding lies in its color palette and draws inspiration from nature’s rich and diverse hues. Earthy tones such as terracotta, sage green, mustard yellow, and burnt sienna serve as primary colors, giving the décor a feeling of warmth and authenticity.  For a harmonious aesthetic, you can complement these shades with soft neutrals like ivory, taupe, and sand, creating a harmonious and grounded aesthetic.

Incorporating these colors can be achieved through various elements: bridesmaids dressed in mismatched formal gowns of rust, olive, and amber; floral arrangements featuring wildflowers, pampas grass, and eucalyptus; and table settings adorned with linen napkins in muted earth tones. This palette not only reflects the natural world but also provides a timeless and elegant backdrop for the celebration.

Vintage and Handmade Décor: Create an Eclectic Atmosphere

A hallmark of the Boho wedding is its eclectic mix of vintage and handmade décor, which adds character and a sense of history to the event. There are a few easy ways to do this. Source antique furniture (consider weathered wooden tables and mismatched chairs) can create an intimate and inviting setting.

  • Incorporate handmade elements like macramé backdrops, crochet table runners, and hand-painted signage. This will further personalize the space and show your creativity.
  • Lighting plays a crucial role in setting the mood; consider using an array of candles, lanterns, and fairy lights to cast a warm, ambient glow.
  • Decorative items like vintage rugs, embroidered cushions, and repurposed glass bottles as vases contribute to the layered, textured aesthetic characteristic of Boho design. These thoughtful details come together to create a space that feels both curated and effortlessly thrown together.

Ask the Experts: How to Budget for a Dream Wedding in the UK Without Breaking the Bank

Planning a wedding is no small feat, especially when you’re dreaming of a boho-chic celebration across the pond. If you’re an American couple planning to tie the knot in the UK, you may be feeling a mix of excitement and financial anxiety. Between flights, accommodation, UK-based vendors, and the cost of bringing your dream boho wedding to life, the budget can quickly spiral out of control.

But don’t worry, getting married in the UK doesn’t mean you have to start a GoFundMe for your wedding. With a little planning, some clever budgeting, and a solid financial strategy, you can make your dream boho wedding a reality without going broke.

Here’s how to do it, without sacrificing the whimsy and beauty of your boho wedding day.

How to Budget for a Dream Wedding in the UK Without Breaking the Bank

1. Start With a Clear Wedding Budget

The first step to budgeting for a wedding, whether in the UK or at home, is setting a clear and realistic budget. You need to know exactly how much you can spend and how you’re going to allocate that money. But let’s be real: there’s no “one size fits all” wedding budget.

Use the 50/30/20 Rule: One of the easiest ways to start is by using a 50/30/20 rule calculator. This simple budgeting method divides your income (or available wedding funds) into three categories:

  • 50% for essentials (e.g., venue, officiant, travel, accommodation)
  • 30% for wants (e.g., decor, entertainment, flowers, catering)
  • 20% for savings or unexpected expenses (e.g., last-minute travel fees, unexpected vendor costs)

By breaking your wedding budget into these categories, you’ll have a clear understanding of where to allocate your funds. Plus, you won’t be scrambling at the last minute when unexpected costs pop up.
