Emily and Alec’s Boho Lake Wedding in Illinois by Capture the Canvas Photography

After a few says off I am now back in the office and raring to go. I had a lovely few days with Nik and Dexter in Dorset, we went to Camp Bestival which was an absolute blast, and had the best time! We are off to another festival in 2 weeks, so I have lost of lovely weddings to cram in, starting with this beauty. Emily and Alec were married on 21st September 2024 at Morris Country Club in Illinois. they were child hood sweethearts and got married on the same lake they held their first date, how cute is that! Mikayla from Capture the Canvas Photography was there to do the honours for us.

Mikayla the photographer tells us more

Emily & Alec’s love story began across the dancing waters of the lake, where they grew up just a stone’s throw from each other, their childhood homes perched on opposite shores. As high school sweethearts, they spent countless hours boating back and forth under the sun to sneak in quiet dates on the water. Years later, that same lake became the backdrop for their forever. Now living in a cozy log cabin on the lake where they grew up, they are lovingly restoring together their dream home where they also chose to marry! Surrounded by childhood memories and their favourite people, they exchanged vows, with the same lake glimmering in the background as it had on their first boat rides.
