Michaela and Sam’s Cookie Loving Romantic Wedding in California by Desert Born Studios

As the temperatures are heating up here in the UK and we face yet another heat wave (cheers global warming!) I am taking you to California for this gorgeous sun filled summer wedding that took place on a strawberry farm. Michaela and Sam were married on 20th July 2024 at Brothers Ranch in Santa Cruz, California. The vibe was laid back and unstructured, all they needed was  their love, some gorgeous flowers and a nod towards their favourite sweet treat, the good old cookie! They held their wedding, their way and the results couldn’t be more them! All captured perfectly by Desert Born Studios.

Michaela tells more about her day

Sam and I met while working at a cookie shop in our town! What started as meals together after work turned into something very beautiful. Of course we had to include the cookies on our wedding day. It was so special to celebrate with all of our friends and family. It really did feel like a celebration.

We both just wanted it to be something that made us happy. We didn’t go into it with a real theme in mind. We chose things that sparked joy and that ended up being the theme. Everything came together so perfectly because it was everything we loved. I also think that it showed in the vendors we found along the way. We seriously had the best team of people. So kind and amazing at their craft. We felt so lucky, and still talk about that aspect of our wedding to this day!

We had a few DIY projects. The flower girl baskets and the signs and table numbers!! My dad made our wedding arch and that is probably my favourite touch of the whole wedding.

Our advice would be, just do things that make you happy when it comes to the details. Don’t worry too much about sticking to a theme because its so much better when you look around and everything is things that truly make you happy. And on the big day stop worrying about other people and worry about having the most fun that you can. You don’t need to spend an hour with every guest. Say hello and when you are done enjoy the day. Eat the food, listen to the music, have fun with your husband and your friends. I think the more you try to make everything perfect the more things end up going wrong lol. So just let it go.
