One of my brides asked me the other day if I could suggest a 1st Dance song for her, she is a great lover of music but her and her fiance don’t have a particular song that is ‘their song’. My first thought was to consult the Internet and google 1st dance song idea, but then I thought that would just throw up the generic classics that everyone has heard time and time again. I wanted something different, a few more interesting options, so I decided to ask my friends on twitter and facebook….and believe me, you lot didn’t let me down! the ideas came flooding in!
So I have compiled a list of those songs that were suggested to me……….i’ve also sent them across to my bride, who is now busy going through YouTube to find her favourite.
Thanks to everyone who made a selection, this list couldn’t have happened without you.
So first things first….My own first dance. To be honest I really can’t remember that much about my first dance, but luckely I do have a photo to prove that I did one! (although not a very good photo, the photographer had gone home at this point….another good reason to book a photographer who will stay from beginning to end, not just for a few hours)
So we had 2 choices………Luther Vandross- Never Too Much (Niks’s choice) and Chaka Khan – Aint Nobody (my choice)…guess who get their own way??
……………Yep Nik did!!
So here is what the rest of you suggested, the first few are the ones that got more than one nomination!

We had ‘A Whole New World’ from Disneys Aladin and it was perfect. But I do know a could who had Michael Jacksons ‘Bad’ as their first dance! It really is personal choice and anything goes!
My fiancee and I are currently dithering between the Rolling Stones ‘Wild Horses’, Bruce Springsteen ‘Born to Run’ [as in together], or Roxy Music ‘More than This’
How the heck we’ll manage to dance to the above remains unseen….XXXXXX
My husband and I danced to 2 songs by John Prine .. She’s my Everything and In Spite of Ourselves :)
L.O.V.E by Nat King Cole would be my first dance song :)
Yeah made the list…….an eclectic mix of some great songs!! Love the photo of you doing your first dance, i have a pretty similar one ‘doing the butterfly’ or ‘tipsy bride with a flowing dress’ impression!!!

The couple from our wedding on Saturday had the band sing Run by Snow Patrol. It was beautiful. My first choice would be You’re My Star by the Stereophonics or First Time Ever I Saw Your Face by the Stereophonics. (I’m a fan just in case you couldn’t tell!)

We had “I’ll be there” by the Jackson 5. Both liked the song!
I have a lot of Brides ask me about their first dance and have also had a few interesting requests but personall, Adele is one of my favourites and always makes the wedding really special.

some great suggestions here, thank you everyone. Alice I also love Adele and walked down the aisle to ‘feel my love’, it was when it was just an album track and not that many people had heard it, it will always have a special place in my heart! xx
i would suggest :Swept Away” by Full Turnout great first dance song.
