Lynsey & Daniel’s Proper British Wedding. By Jennifer Langridge

We see a fair few weddings that take place at Camden Town Hall. It’s a stunning location with big sweeping staircase and a photographer’s dream for the perfect wedding day images. But what amazes me is that each bride and groom can still make the space and their wedding totally unique. I particularly love the quirky vintage campervan, the bridesmaids and groomsmen all in navyand the handmade paper buttonholes. With images by Jennifer Langridge, this has all the oomph of a proper, British wedding.

‘The day was the best. It summed us both up as a couple.’

1 Lynsey & Daniel's Proper British Wedding. By Jennifer Langridge Jennifer Langridge - Wedding Photography

Lynsey and Daniel were married on the 5th July at Camden Town Hall and The Prince Albert in Camden. “We both live in London but are not from here originally. We thought it was a good central location that all our family and friends could get to. We also wanted a proper British wedding!”

How they met
We met through friends and were friends with each other for 6 months before we got married. We’ve been together 4 years.

The proposal
It was Christmas Day 2012 and very spur of the moment. We were at a family party and Dan’s mum had been saying how much she loved me. He then decided he wanted to propose!

How did you allocate your budget?
We had help from our parents and our own money too. Lynsey created a lot of spreadsheets! We realised some areas were more expensive than others but we did really well with what we had in the pot.

Why did you choose your photographer?
Jenny is a mutual friend and we both really enjoy her style of photography. When the opportunity came up for Jenny to take the photos we were delighted!

The suit and bridesmaids
The suit was Topman! The bridesmaid dresses were made to measure by handmade by Hollycrow based in stoke on Trent.

The theme
We really liked navy which the groomsmen and bridesmaid wore. There was a travel theme which really was depicted in the decorations.

The flowers
The flowers were baby’s breath gypsophilia which Lynsey bought and made into bunches with her bridesmaids.

The decoration
Each table was named after somewhere we had travelled together. There was a postcard of the place, a mini globe and luggage tags with people’s names on.

The food and wedding cake
We ate seasonal menus of chicken, monkfish and risotto. We also had Krispy Kreme donuts for afterward! The cake was a three-tier cake by Waitrose which had a Lego cake topper and some cupcakes with edible globe paper.

The entertainment
We had live music from the grooms band and friends. We also had a spotify playlist and had asked the guests to choose a song.

Buy or DIY your stationery?
A mixture of both really!

Personal or handmade touches
We had chalkboards with our favourite quotes on them. We gave out jelly beans as favours. Again the travel theme throughout was very special to us.

Special moments
Apart from the actual ceremony we really enjoyed the speeches as so many friends and family said something. We also just loved seeing everyone we love and care about in the same room!

Advice to other couples
Make sure you do it together and ask each other’s advice you’ll be surprised at how many good ideas you both will have! On the day itself just enjoy it and relax – it goes so quickly!

Biggest surprise
Just how everything came together so well! When you’re planning it you never really know until the day how it’s going to look! We were surprised beyond our expectations!
