I have something a bit different for you today, it’s a styled shoot but of the most simplistic kind, no props, no fuss, no costumes, just 3 outfits a model some yellow roses and a park. Styled shoots don’t have to be complicated and fussy to be effective, some times it is just about conveying a mood and capturing a feeling.
The shoot was sent into me by Cherry Blossom and what I like about it is it’s simplicity, she takes a simple subject matter and gives it a serene, calming and whimsical feel to it. The 60s and 70s have to be my favourite eras so I just love these outfits, the hair the hat! Make me want to go and play dress up!
Cheery tells us more about the shoot……..
I decided to do the shoot because I have always been into vintage style in particular the 1960s. Between me & the model we have wardrobes full of vintage clothes & dresses, I thought it would be great to document them. My inspiration was a mixture of 60s & 70s style. I didn’t want a big crew or fuss, just very laid back pretty photographs. The model is such a dream to photograph that I didn’t feel the need to use lots of elaborate props or make up artists! My model, Carly Scott, who is also a photographer did her own hair & make up. I bought some lovely yellow roses & snapped away! We met as teenagers who shared a passion for photography & have actually been shooting various projects together for about 10 years & it works great as we can swap between being photographer/model. She shoots me, I shoot her.
When I’m not shooting weddings I like to do shoots for myself as much as possible, as I find it helps to keep my creativity flowing. I am planning a more 50s style bridal shoot next when I get a chance.

I am based in Southend on Sea, Essex. I would describe my style as quite quirky, a little charming & at times romantic! I like to think my photographs have a bit of character & they definitely reflect me and my own style & personality.
I am offering 10% off all 2013 weddings!
I loved the 70’s and I love this 70’s photo shoot…very groovy, man!
