Hayley and Cameron’s Intimate Rustic Cornish Wedding by Grace Elizabeth

Happy Monday everyone. I hope you are all well and happy and have had a good weekend? What have you been up to? Anything wedding related? Mine was lovely, Saturday we met up with family for a bike ride and walk, and then Sunday we met up with more family and went to the National Space Centre in Leicester, which was great fun! Now it’s half term, so a week of juggling child care with work, so a super busy week all round. And of course it’s Valentines day tomorrow! I hope you have something romantic planned? Speaking of romance lets get on with today’s wedding and it’s the super cute Cornish Wedding of Hayley and Cameron. This wedding took place just a few miles away from where I was brought up in Cornwall, in fact we visited the beach Hayley and Cameron had their photos taken on the last time we went down as a family. They held an intimate wedding of 45 guests and did things the way they wanted. Rustic, simple and full of love. Big thanks to Grace Elizabeth for the gorgeous photos.

Just the most special, intimate day surrounded by the people we love.

Hayley and Cameron were married on 3rd October 2022 at St Pauls Church Charlestown Cornwall, with the reception at Knightor winery in St Austell. ‘We went wine tasting there for my birthday after lockdown. It was one of our first trips out again and it was beautiful! We have the best time and although we had only been together 6 months (and weren’t even engaged) we both said this is where we are going to have our reception. We had 45 guests and it took 8 weeks to plan. We had a big wedding planned and booked for Christmas but both agreed we had let the whole ‘big traditional wedding’ cloud our view of what we actually wanted. So we cancelled, changed the guest list to family and groomsmen/bridesmaids only and had the small intimate wedding of our dreams.’

How they met
We met in a pub and bonded over our love of rattler. We’ve been togther for 3 years.

The proposal
We went to Wales on a little trip for my 30th birthday. When we arrived we got some snacks and wine and sat down looking at the beautiful view. We said life couldn’t get much better than this. He then started crying and got down on one knee. It was very emotional, not many words were exchanged, they didn’t need to be.

How did you allocate your budget?
We decided what was important to us and spent the most money on those things (food and the venue).

Where did you splurge and where did you save?
We didn’t really splurge at all, we didn’t see the point in putting ourselves into debt. We saved alot on decorations by keeping them simple and rustic to fit in with the venue. We also were lucky enough to have Cams dads vintage car to take us to the reception and have pictures with and his sisters and mum to make our cakes.

How did you choose your photographer?
I actually think it was fate. I have NO idea how I stumbled across Grace’s Instagram but I did and I’m happy and grateful I did.

The dress
My dress was by Elyssa and my shoes and accessories were from various high street shops.

The suit and bridesmaids
The suit was from ASOS and the girls dresses I let them wear whatever they wanted.

Theme or colour scheme
Just very rustic and neutral.

Flowers
I had gorgeous cappuccino roses (apparently really hard to get hold of) that my wonderful mum and brother paid for for me.

Decoration
We had Hessian bunting and table runners, dried flowers in jars, vintage books and lots and lots of candles.

Food
We ate buffet food. Casual, yummy food.

Wedding cake
We had 3 flavours, chocolate, lemon and carrot. All separate cakes baked by cams mum, and 2 sisters.

Entertainment
We didn’t really. Our reception finished at 7pm and we just put on a playlist for the afternoon.

Who supplied the stationery?
We did it online on Zazzle

Where did you go on your honeymoon?
We actually went on a pre wedding honeymoon to the isles of Scilly.

Personal touches
What were your special moments or highlights of the day? After the speeches we both stood up and made one last toast, and thanked the guests for coming, from the 3 of us ( I was 11 weeks pregnant at the time).

Advice for other couples
Do not let the expectations of others steer you towards a wedding you don’t want.

Biggest surprise
How quickly it went!!!
