Today I am back with my regular feature ‘Advice from the Married Side,‘ real life wedding planning advice...
Thanks to Covid today’s couple ended up getting married twice! The first time was a year before today’s wedding, due to Covid rules. So today’s wedding was a long time coming. Tori and Andrew were married (for the second time) on 19th September 2021 in Ohio. They held a gorgeous outdoor wedding at The Marmalade Lily in Ohio. It was a truly beautiful day, filled with so many flowers, giving it a timeless and romantic feel. Tori wore a gorgeous BHLDN gown with a cute flower crown, which went with the venue’s backdrop perfectly. Big thanks to Jess Woods Photo for the wonderful photos.
It was truly a joy working with Tori and Andrew and finally seeing this 2020 COVID couple’s special day come to life! Tori was absolutely stunning in her flower crown and the garden shots by Jess Woods Photography are what we LIVE for here at The Marmalade Lily Flower Farm & Event Barn! As Tori put it, “The best part of having two weddings is getting to experience the ‘newlywed’ season twice.”
Theme or colour scheme
When planning our wedding I knew I wanted it to feel romantic and timeless. Growing up I always had a love for flowers and they heavily influenced my wedding dreams. Our colour palette was “muted neutrals”.
Florals, florals and more florals! We felt that the florals and the aesthetic of the venue was timeless and beautiful. Besides a few custom signs, pictures of my husband and I and some candles on the table, we didn’t feel the need to bring in too much décor. We made sure to add lots of personal touches into our wedding day by including our favourite foods, snacks and drinks from our favourited breweries.
I felt like a fairy princess on our wedding day! I had the most beautiful cascade bridal bouquet and a bridal crown that matched. Our arbor was decorated with a gorgeous garland that made the ceremony site look like a whimsical dream.
I knew I wanted my dress to align with the romantic and garden theme. I found the perfect dress shopping at BHLDN. My gown was feminine, airy and I could bust it down on the dance floor with it on. It had floral lace blooms from its delicate illusion neckline, through a fitted bodice, and into a frothy tulle skirt. A sheer back, lined with femme pearl buttons, and a soft blush lining provide the finishing touches. The look was pulled together with a simple belt, rose gold earrings, and “rusty rose” shoes. My husband wore a navy suite with a garden themed tie and pocket square from Dazi. His favourite part of his look was wearing his grandpa’s watch that has been passed down for generations.
Finally getting to stand up in person in front of all of our loved ones and share our vows to each other. Although we had already been married for a little over a year thanks to COVID, we still were nervously anticipating the ceremony. When I saw Andrew at the end of the aisle all my nerves went away, we went in for a big hug and accidentally kissed each-other. It was so funny. We both responded by saying “We’re already married!” That got lots of giggles out of our friends and family. It is still one of the most talked about part from our wedding.
Advice for other couples
You spend a lot of time trying to nail down the important details of the day and getting everything lined up. When it actually arrives, take a deep breath and let it sink in. You’re getting married to the love of your life. Your closest friends and family members are there to celebrate you. Dance your butt off! Enjoy every single second of it and once it’s over, cherish every memory.
