As it is Easter coming up this weekend, I thought it would be fun to turn our attention to all of you with a sweet tooth and look at Dessert Stations. Dessert Stations are BIG in weddings at the moment and for good reason, they look amazing and can be a real focal point at your wedding. Our good friends at Goose and Berry are here to offer us some sound catering advice about putting together the perfect dessert station, and my oh my has this post got me feeling hungry! If you are a regular to the blog you will know that I am a massive cake fan, so reading all about dessert stations has filled my day with joy, as I hope it will do yours.
1) Think presentation, of course the desserts should speak for themselves but dressing your dessert table will create visual interest and ensure that it looks as spectacular as it tastes.
2) Choose a theme or selection of food and dishes that you would like served. These may be linked to the overall style of your wedding.
3) Where would you like the food stations and stalls to be located? Will they be on show throughout the main meal, or would you like a grand unveiling! We’ve created secret pudding rooms, complete with smart waiters on hand to serve espresso martinis to keep the party going!
4) Dessert stations shouldn’t cost the earth in comparison to a plated dessert, but if you want it to have a visual impact then you need to add a floral burst – the bigger the better. Start with a simple table and dress it to the nines using textured fabrics, flowers (recycled bridesmaids posies if you’re on a budget) wooden crates, stools, Perspex cubes – your caterer should have lots of fun props to suit your style so don’t be afraid to ask.
5a) Self-service – Add in little cute signs and serving spoons
5b) Served – A waiter is handy to have to guide guests and help with the service and manage portion control!
