Madeline and Josh’s Intimate Backyard Wedding in California by Desert Born Studios

Today am taking you off to sunny California for this gorgeous backyard wedding. I do love backyard weddings, they tend to be super laid back and really personal. There is something so relaxing about having a wedding at home. This can be seen in these stunning photos of Madeline and Josh who were married on 3rd April 2021 at Bellflower, California at Maddie’s grandparents backyard. It was an intimate wedding, chilled and so full of love. Their attention to detail in the whole styling of the day is second to non, as they DIY’s so much of it themselves, from the decor to the wedding favours. Pure wedding gold! Big thanks to Desert Born Studios for the superb images.

Bridal Style: DIY Bridesmaid Wedding-Ready Hair

It’s your girl’s big day! You’ve done the showers, had the bachelorette party, rehearsed and now it’s time for you to all get ready to walk down the aisle. Lucky for you there are plenty of elegant DIY hairstyles that are simple to achieve.

Before we dive in, we just want to quickly go over some bridesmaid hair etiquette. Everyone has different preferences. To some, these things matter more than to others so use these as a general guide and be sure to plan ahead by talking to the bride-to-be.

  1. Be mindful of the bride’s wishes – if she has a specific style in mind, follow her lead.
  2. Do not upstage the bride – your hairstyle should complement her look, not overtake it. If the bride is doing a fancy up-do- make sure yours isn’t too similar.
  3. Consult the rest of the bridal party. As you shouldn’t upstage the bride, you also shouldn’t upstage the maid of honor. In addition, you don’t want to be the only bridesmaid wearing their hair up if everyone else is wearing theirs down.

When it comes to doing your own hair for the wedding, keep it simple – avoid elaborate styles that may be difficult to achieve and/or take a lot of time. Remember that you will need to be ready before the bride so you can help her get ready and into her gown. Be mindful of the day of schedule and plan accordingly.

Messy Low Chignon Bun

If you’re looking for a style that’s elegant and easy to do yourself, consider a low chignon. This type of bun is perfect for all hair lengths and textures. To create a low chignon, start by gathering your hair at the nape of your neck and pulling it into a low ponytail. Leave a few face-framing pieces out of the tie. Then, twist the ponytail into a bun and secure it with bobby pins. Teaze a few strands away from the bun to create texture. Be sure to spritz your hair with hairspray for extra hold.

Franky and Gary’s Relaxed Wedding in Northern Ireland all Planned in 10 Weeks. By Sheena T Photography

Well hello you lovely lot and how are you all? As I am currently living in a house of Covid I am doing my best to juggle work and child care, along with some home learning thrown in for good measure! It feels like it’s going to be a long old week! But to brighten up up the day I have this gorgeous relaxed wedding from Northern Ireland, courtesy of Sheena T Photography. Franky and Gary had originally planned their wedding to be held in Spain, but when this got cancelled because of Covid they had only 10 weeks to re-arrange the wedding and find somewhere else. They managed to pull it off though and ended up with a super chilled summer wedding, filled with sunshine, smiles and lots of love.

Without a doubt thee most chilled out relaxed wedding we’ve ever been at (bonus it was our own) plus it was 24 degrees in Ireland!

Franky and Gary were married on 27th August 2021 at ballyscullion park at Co Derry-Londonderry in
Northern Ireland. ‘We had to cancel our Spanish wedding due to Covid. It was the 2nd place we contacted and booked it with 10 weeks to go. We had 105 guests and it took 10 weeks to plan’

So I will be spending this week looking after him while he is off school while juggling work! Hopefully, he will test negative by the end of the week. I have a super busy week for you here on the blog starting with this gorgeous rustic chic Australian wedding. Phoebe and Liam were married on 30th December 2021 at Gordon Country in Queensland and their wedding is a real dream of a day. Rustic touches, rust bridesmaids, dried flowers and the most beautiful outdoor ceremony. Big thanks to Tyneale Hahn Makeup Artist for the wonderful submission and to Tessa Cox Photography  for the lovely images.
