When it comes to weddings, the flowers have to be one of my favourite aspects....

A few weeks ago I saw Shelly from Toast of Leeds, sneak peek these AMAZING images from a recent styled shoot she had organised, I knew straight away that I had to post them and luckily Shelly agreed! I see a lot of styled shoots but to be honest I don’t post that many on the blog as a lot of them are very similar. This shoot, however, is something completely different and for that reason I LOVE it! The disco theme is totally fabulous, combining elements of studio 54 with the modern-day, using The Faversham in Leeds as a prime location for the shoot. Shelly has pulled together some first class suppliers to make her vision come to life! Fancy a disco theme wedding? Why the hell not! I’m off to dust off my roller boots and find a mirror ball to dance under!
The Faversham has a rich music history and is a great venue for alternative weddings for couples who don’t want a bog standard hotel kinda thing. It’s big enough to accommodate a tipi and marquees on the lawn, has a fantastic space for dance floor action and has tons of atmosphere. We wanted to highlight the Fav as being one of the cooler wedding venues. You can really make it your own.
The Inspiration
Studio 54, disco. We really wanted that clubby vibe for alternative brides and grooms who wanna make their wedding a bit more of a reflection of them rather than the usual tiaras and scatter crystal shenanigans. And with the whole industrial vibe happening at American weddings at the moment, the FAv is perfectly positioned to offer something a little different.
Styled shoots are always great for working with fantastic suppliers and also being able to shoot things your way. When the Faversham first approached me, I told them categorically that I wasn’t interested in just doing the same old wedding styled shoot as the next person and they totally took that on board and kinda let me get away with stuff that was a bit more edgy. I think brides and grooms are finally beginning to realise that weddings aren’t just about tradition and that weddings can be a reflection of who they are. Not every girl wants the Cinderella princess thing with ten matching bridesmaids and a groom in a hired morning suit. Embrace your individuality – if ya wanna wear a gold mini dress to get married in, then do it.
