Real Weddings: A DIY back yard wedding with a bicycle made for two

Today’s Real Wedding is a right beauty and was sent to me by the immensely talented Megan Spelman. Megan contacted me  a few weeks back as she is based in Spain and she was interested in the wedding planning work I am doing in Ibiza, I had a look at her work and instantly fell in love with it. It has such a relaxed feel about it, great lighting, great muted colours that I asked if I could feature one of her weddings on the blog……..and this rather gorgeous wedding is the result of that conversation!

Megan is based in Denia on Spain’s Mediterranean coast and has over eight years of experience working at newspapers like the Flint Journal and the Los Angeles Times. Megan works internationally so this wedding is actually from a wedding that took place in West Michigan.
Megan says about the wedding:
‘I love Matt and Joanna! This was a gorgeous wedding with lots of personal touches. Matt and Joanna are into cycling, saving the world, and being hilarious. They got married in the backyard of Joanna’s childhood home in West Michigan. There were lots of DIY touches. Friends did the invitations, flowers, hair, and Joanna’s sister and maid of honor is a chef who did all the food (all Michigan products). A string quartet played Led Zeppelin as Joanna walked down the aisle to a good friend Jim who got licensed to marry them online. Friends painted the basketball court for a fun dance floor complete with silly hats for guests to try on.’

I just LOVE this wedding it is certainly up there with one of my favorites that I have posted, even my husband commented on how Matt and Joanna looked liked models! and it’s weddings like this that make me want to move to the states where the weddings laws are so less structured than ours, weddings outside, friends getting licensed to carry out the ceremony, all that sunshine!……………perfect!
Hope you love it as much as I do!

Love it. Everything was so well done and in keeping with the theme from start to finish. They look like they had a lot of fun too.
