Happy Monday everyone and how are you all? With only 2 week till Christmas I...
Today I’d like to introduce you to Marianne Ford from Marianne Ford photography. Marianne is a UK Photographer who I have featured on the blog a few times, she has been based out of Spain for the past few years, however she is now back living in London. Her style is soft, fresh and creative and she describes her self as
‘ An old romantic who believes everyone is entitled to their happy ever after.’
Marianne has been kind enough to set up an offer for all Boho Readers interested in booking her for their 2013 wedding.
So you can get to know Marianne a bit better she has kindly answered some of my questions and shared with us a few of her favourite images……….
What made you start your business?
I had always wanted to be a wedding photographer but somehow I became a nurse in Accident and Emergency instead. My heart was always with my photo work so I worked full time and studied photography full time at the London College of Printing. Those times were manic, full of editing on my nightshifts and days off. I survived on very little sleep! I soon started photographing colleague’s weddings and the rest is history. Since leaving work four years ago I have been working for myself as a freelance wedding photographer. As for the nursing, I see it as a plus point for my clients, a photographer that doubles up as a medic, a master organizer and timekeeper!
Where are you based?
I am now based in London but having lived in Spain I still tend to travel back and forth to the islands for weddings. I really feel I get the best of both worlds. One week I can be photographing in the rain and desperate for some extra light the next I am on a beach photographing in 30-degree heat.
How would you describe your style?
My style is all about capturing the atmosphere of the day with as little interference as possible. I don’t tend to pose shots I just click away from the sidelines and capture the day as it unfolds. I am however still a fan of group shots and believe these need not be dreaded!
What is your biggest achievement so far?
I have recently had one of my weddings in You & your wedding and Hello magazine, I think I showed everyone and felt a little famous. I was also lucky enough to photograph two quite high profile weddings last year, its just a shame I can’t blog them! My personal favorite was getting to meet Chaz n’ Dave as they were the wedding band.
What makes you different to your competitors?
My business has been something that I have personally built and I am very proud of what I do; Hopefully this can be seen in the service I provide. I aim never to be too busy to answer questions or listen to my client’s ideas as I feel the more I can get to know them the better the results.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
It’s difficult to say a single aspect but Weddings are all about happiness and hope for the future. The whole idea gives me goose bumps.
What sort of couple do you think you attract?
I don’t think I have a type of client and I wouldn’t like to be categorized, as each one is special. So far my next year bookings include everything from a traditional church weddings through to a gothic ceremony.
What would be your ideal wedding to work on?
I don’t really have an ideal, as each wedding is such a carefully planned celebration. I do however love weddings that show individuality and personality. I recently photographed a wedding that had the used the song ‘ Class of 99: Wear sunscreen’ as their reading and it fitted perfectly, it spoke volumes about the couple.
Can you give me some information on your pricing structure?
I provide a half or full day package, prices start at £900 these include a slideshow, a DVD of your images and online viewing.
And don’t forget that offer………..
