I’m so excited to share todays’ wedding with you as it takes place in one of my favorite wedding venues. Ace Hotel Palm Springs is one of the coolest wedding venues in California, it’s stylish, chic, light, bright and attracts THE best couples! Hannah and Jordan definitely fit that brief, they are both gorgeous, full of style and created THE most stunning wedding you could wish for. I am just loving the use of colour against the palm springs back drop, the pastel shades pop perfectly against the hills and palm trees. The flowers are totally stunning and I just love their fun ‘Airlibe chic’ theme that runs throughout the day. This Palm Springs wedding is just wedding perfection, all planned beautifully by Michelle Garibay Events and captured perfectly by Brogen Jessup.
Hannah and Jordan were married on 1st March 2025 at The Ace Hotel & Swim Club, Palm Springs, California. ‘Palm Springs had sentimental value to us. It felt destination-y without being outside of the country. It was easily accessible for many of our guests — Hannah’s family is in CA, Jordan’s family is in CO. We had 118 guests and it took about a year and a half to plan.’
How they met
We met “in the wild” in a coffee shop in Sweden. Jordan had just moved to start her master’s, and Hannah was there playing semi-pro soccer.
The proposal
There were two! Hannah proposed first. It was inspired by our shared love of reality TV, and Hannah concocted a scheme where she convinced Jordan they were walking be a scene of Love is Blind (which was actually shooting in DC). Then she flipped the script and got down on one knee in front of the cameras. This took place in front of the Swedish embassy for cherry on top. Jordan’s was a week later during the sweetest trip she had planned to Shenandoah, Virginia. She gave me a Polaroid camera at the beginning, and a blank album. She was (suspiciously) having us take pics at different landmarks/stops, and we’d put them in the album with a little sharpie note. On our last night, I came back into the living room of the place we were staying, and she told me to flip through the album to make sure all the pics were there. The last page I turned to had a Polaroid pic of the ring and the note, “Will you marry me?”
How did you allocate your budget?
We provided our planner with our budget, vision, and priorities. We trusted her to allocate the budget accordingly, and she did!
Where did you splurge and where did you save?
We splurged on having our creative vision coming to life! We dreamed of transporting our guests back to the days when flying was sexy. We spent extra money on our custom Boarding Passes and Beverage Service bar. We also decided last minute to get a colorful dance floor that pulled our vision together We also wanted our florals to enhance the midcentury vision and color palette. We saved money on our save the dates and invitations. We created cute paperless post save the dates and I can’t recommend that enough!
How did you choose your photographer?
We got a couple recs from our wedding planner and really loved Brogen Jessup’s style and personality!
The Outfits
Hannah’s jumpsuit was custom made by Doina Alexei in Leesburg, VA. Jordan can’t remember who her designer is but her dress was beautiful and perfect for the midcentury theme!
The bridesmaids
For our bridesmaids, we just had them choose whatever they felt comfortable in in a color from our wedding color palette. Jordan created a vision board to help birdesmaids with inspo!
Theme or colour scheme
Yes, airline chic! Think Pan-Am. When flying was sexy in the mid-century.
Flowers
The best! We worked with Fleur Alchemy and did “designers choice”. Araceli and Grant went above and beyond making our floral dreams come to life.
Decoration
Bright colors with midcentury elements throughout
Food
Passed appetizers at our cocktail hour included bacon wrapped dates, beet falafels, charcuterie sticks and crab cakes. For our family-style dinner we served chopped salad, braised beef short ribs, sea bass and BBQ pulled shitake. We also had a late night snack of fries with different dips!
Wedding cake
We did a vintage styled white heart shaped cake with intricate piping. We had a desserts bar for guests to enjoy!
Entertainment
We had a DJ who came highly recommended from our planner and he really was so great. He helped us pre record “flight messages” that we played at the beginning and end of our reception
Who supplied the stationery
Something Lettered Designs!
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
We went on a mini moon to Cabo right after. For our year anniversary, we took a larger “honeymoon” trip to Vietnam and Thailand
Personal touches
Jordan’s mom helped organize wedding photos of three generations to honor our loved ones love stories that led to ours
Special moments
I will always remember when standing at the alter with Hannah, listening to our pastor speak. The sun was setting over the mountains and breaking through the clouds. It made the moment feel real and sacred.
Advice for other couples
This is kind of funny and maybe not what you’re looking for but one of the best decisions we made was to splurging on a cleaning service to clean our apartment when we were gone. Coming back to that apartment after such a whirlwind of a time was incredible!
Biggest surprise of the day
We’re such planners so there wasn’t anything toooo spontaneous incorporated into our wedding but our first look was a genuine surprise and amazing!
We wanted our guests to be absolutely surprised and delighted by all of the little details and special moments we created — we had a drag queen pass out drink tickets for our welcome party, dressed up as flight attendants to pass out out guests “tickets” for their seating, we had my dad, who is a pilot, recorded “announcements from the cockpit” to play at the beginning and end of our reception to get I’m our guests in the flying mood, and we gave out Swedish candy bags with luggage tags at “baggage claim” at the end of the night
