Gold elements

Gold is having a real moment this year, and it’s not hard to see why. It adds just the right amount of glamour without feeling over the top.

Mary Angelini, Videographer at Key Moment Films, shares, “Gold is still here and going nowhere. Its warm tone is perfect for the season and can be used as a natural and paired with any fall wedding aesthetic. It works just as beautifully in a rustic barn setting with textured linens and organic florals as it does in a grand ballroom with crystal chandeliers and luxe fabrics. Gold can be used subtly, like gold-toned flatware and candleholders. Gold instantly elevates the overall aesthetic and ties the design together with a sense of timeless elegance.”

And if you want to go bolder? Consider gold accents in your bridal look, like statement earrings or hairpins, or even gold foiling on your cake design. Gold is an excellent choice that photographs beautifully under autumn’s softer light.

Traditional wedding cakes

After years of seeing everything from doughnut walls to cupcake towers, the classic wedding cake is back in the spotlight. Couples are leaning into elegant designs with smooth icing and delicate piping.

“Gone are the days of hanging donuts on a display wall,” admits Kelley Nudo, Client Relations & Operations Director at Momental Designs. “Couples are really embracing the idea of having a traditional wedding cake, especially the Lambeth style or the Italian millefeuille, which are hugely popular. The menus we create for our couples these days have thoughtful dessert choices that are either traditional wedding cakes or confectionery assortments that rival the charcuterie displays during the cocktail hour.”

That said, “traditional” doesn’t have to mean predictable. Bakers are experimenting with seasonal flavours like spiced apple, pear, and caramel, as well as decorating with fresh flowers or edible metallics for a modern twist. The beauty of a classic cake is that it feels celebratory but still leaves space for your personality to shine.

Purple palettes

Purple might just be the colour of fall 2025. It pairs well with metallics like gold or silver, and it’s equally striking alongside earthy tones for a more boho-inspired look.

Liney Castle, Wedding Planner at Twickenham House and Hall, says, “An unexpected colour that I am seeing gain popularity is a red tone of purple! I would describe it as a deep plum, and it’s being used in conjunction with some neutrals for a standout palette.”

What’s great about purple is that it works in so many different parts of your wedding. You could bring it in through your florals, bridesmaids’ dresses, or even your tablescape linens.

Guest experience

One of the biggest shifts we’re seeing this season is a focus on guest experience. Couples want their wedding to be memorable not just for themselves, but for the people they love most.

“Fall 2025 weddings are leaning into thoughtful design and the guest experience,” reveals Amos Gott, Chief Event Architect at AmosEvents. “The emphasis is on materials, mood, and meaningful details with styling that feels intentional rather than performative. Whether it’s an unplugged ceremony, a handwritten note at each place setting, or a scent memory woven into the evening, the most powerful trends are the ones that make guests feel something.”

Think of it as creating moments rather than just a schedule of events. At the end of the day, a handful of thoughtful touches are what people remember long after the last dance.

Pops of orange

Orange is making its way into autumn weddings in a fresh, unexpected way. Rather than the traditional pumpkin-heavy décor, couples are opting for bold pops of burnt orange, terracotta, and even vibrant tangerine.

Kevin Dennis, Owner of Fantasy Sound Event Services, explains, “With the emergence of Taylor Swift’s new album, we’re seeing a surge in the colour orange to go along with her new era. With this, we’ll see ‘Portofino orange’ taking the stage in tablescapes, linens, invitations, signage, florals, and dress codes for fall. Typically, couples try to stay away from anything too seasonal for fall, but I think this year will definitely be an exception.”

Florals are an easy way to bring this trend to life—think marigolds, dahlias, or roses in warm orange hues. But don’t stop there. You could also consider statement candles or place settings with a splash of orange to liven up your tablescape.
