If you havn’t felt in holiday mode yet this year then this wedding is about to really get you in the mood for some summer sunshine, as I take you off to Costa Rica for today’s tropical jungle wedding. Costa Rica has to be THE most popular spot to get married at the moment, and it’s not surprising, as the weddings I get to feature from there are out of this world! Today I am delighted to share the wedding of Colleen and Javier who were married on 27th July 2024 at Hotel Arboleda. Their wedding is a pure delight of tropical; goodness mixed with accents of terracotta, an abundance of food and a packed dance floor all make it the best kind of wedding you could wish for. Big thanks to Adri Mendez Photography
and planner Mil Besos Costa Rica.
Colleen and Javier celebrated their love in the breath taking mountains of Manuel Antonio, a destination that combines lush rainforests and stunning ocean views. The couple prepared for their special day at Hotel Arboleda, where tropical hut villas offered panoramic vistas of the Pacific Ocean.
The morning began with Colleen admiring the serene beauty of the jungle in a silk robe, her wedding dress—a floral masterpiece with a sheer midsection and invisible waist effect—hanging elegantly against the jungle backdrop.
A heartfelt touch was a custom-embroidered napkin, a meaningful keepsake from Ashlee to her mother, adding an intimate sentiment to the preparations. Javier’s details were classic: a classic combination of a brown leather belt, shoes, and a vow book, reflecting his timeless style. After practicing his vows, he suited up, ready to meet Colleen at the aisle.
The ceremony at Morpho Restaurant was a celebration of tropical elegance. Guests were seated on bamboo chairs along a bamboo mat aisle, shaded under a clear tarp to embrace the rainforest’s unpredictable charm.
The focal point was a circular floral arch bursting with greenery and palm leaves, while each guest’s name was handwritten on leaves—a nod to nature’s beauty.
Javier’s excitement was palpable as Colleen began her walk down the aisle. Their vows culminated in a joyful kiss and dip, with flower petals showering their “I do” moment.
Following the ceremony, the couple enjoyed a dreamy photoshoot amidst the lush coastline, framed by towering palm trees. Colleen’s cascading orchid bouquet added a touch of tropical sophistication.
Back at Morpho Restaurant, the reception came alive with vibrant details: burnt orange napkins, gold silverware, and centerpieces featuring Birds of Paradise blooms.
Guests sipped on coconut lime cocktails under twinkling string lights and disco-inspired chandeliers with bite-size hors d’oeuvres.
Details of the evening include sweet polaroids of each guest on their placemat, a glowing neon “Te Amo” photo wall, and dangling string lights amidst two elegant long table setups.
Even more thoughtful touches included the bride and groom’s silverware etched with sweet messages, plus a smooth icing coco loco cake with orchids and cracked coconut. Yum!
A wonderful evening ensued under the string light tarp and disco ball chandeliers, as Ashlee and Erick danced, mingled, and toasted to their union. The two shared a passionate kiss with fireworks (yes, real ones)!
As the night unfolded, carnival dancers dazzled guests in colorful feathered costumes. The couple cut their minimalist cake with orange and white blooms and enjoyed their special night with the best company.
Colleen and Javier’s wedding was a testament to love, joy, and the magic of Costa Rica
