I have watched her business go from strength to strength, so it really is an absolute delight to have her on the blog today. Founded in 2008 by designer Rachel Simpson, the brand began with a simple idea- to create beautiful, timeless shoes that don’t just look good—they feel good too. What started as bespoke bridal designs made in a garden workshop has grown into a cult favourite for women seeking elegant shoes with a unique twist. Today, the collection goes beyond bridal, offering occasion styles, trainers and everyday shoes, all designed to elevate the everyday with that signature Rachel Simpson touch.

With over 25 years of experience designing footwear and a passion for craftsmanship, Rachel brings together artisan craftsmanship, commercial know-how and a real understanding of how women actually wear their shoes. Made using beautiful leathers and suede with natural leather linings, every pair is created with an uncompromising commitment to comfort, fit and enduring style- because true luxury isn’t just about how something looks, it’s how it makes you feel.

Where are you based and how long have you been designing for

I’m based in Oxfordshire, and have been designing shoes for over 25 years.

What is your main company ethos

Rachel Simpson is all about beautiful shoes which are designed to be loved, kept and worn. We want our customers to wear their shoes again and again for years to come, and design them to last both in terms of style and durability. Our signature look combines a touch of vintage with modern silhouettes to create shoes to love for years to come.

Talk to me about the trainer collection, are you finding it an ever-popular option with brides?

I wanted to include trainers when I relaunched the collection, as it’s a bridal trend which is here to stay. Having said that, what I love about our trainers is that- like our shoes- it’s all about how you style them. So they’ve been designed to be super versatile and can be dressed up or down… and of course, being RS they’re super comfy too!

What are your influences when designing, what sort of brides do you think you attract?

My inspiration has always come from everywhere, rather than a specific source. I think I really know our customers now so always have them in mind when I’m designing new styles. Our brides want a pair of shoes which they feel totally confident in, both in terms of the look being authentically their style, and that they feel comfortable and supported so they don’t even have to think about their shoes and can just focus on having the best day! I still give a nod to vintage in my designs, combining this with fresh, modern silhouettes, but have definitely developed a strong signature style over the years now which has a hand writing all of its own!
