Eli and Adam’s Beautiful Flower Filled Outdoor Wedding in Harrogate by Hamish Irvine

Happy Tuesday everyone! I hope you are all having a great week so far? Today I am delighted to be taking you to Harrogate in Yorkshire for the beautiful wedding of Eli and Adam who were married on 27th August 2023 at Wharfedale Grange with 180 guests. The wedding was sent into me by one of my lovely directory members Meg Senior who is an amazing celebrant. She created a touching, funny and heart felt ceremony, which also included some of the most gorgeous flowers I have seen in a long while. An outdoor ceremony where they just about managed to dodge the rain, followed by a barn reception with one heck of a party. Big thanks to Hamish Irvine for the wonderful photos.

More from Meg the celebrant

Their wedding was a cultural fusion, reflecting Eli’s Jewish heritage and including traditional English elements too. Up until ten minutes before the wedding it was raining torrentially and just in time the sky cleared. We had a beautiful outdoor celebrant-led ceremony, with a string quartet, both parents accompanying the bride, readings from Eli’s siblings, and a traditional glass smash crescendo!

To give themselves the absolute best chance of having a happy marriage, Eli and Adam requested words of wisdom from older relatives who have long established marriages. I coordinated responses so the advice was a surprise for E+A during the ceremony.

How they met
Eli and Adam have a beautiful story. They met on the first day of university in Newcastle and have been best friends ever since. Now they live in London with their gorgeous little dog, Billie the cavapoo. Eli is a teacher and Adam spends a lot of his time running (very fast) marathons.

The proposal
It took place on holiday in Greece, two years on from booking this dream destination pre-covid. Eli already having written off any chance of a proposal due to Adam being uncharacteristically relaxed at airport security. But one evening at sunset, on the beach, peach Bellini’s in-hand, Adam went down on one knee. There was a cheer from the passers-by, and what followed was the most glamorous room service of their lives.
