We are celebrating all things sunny today with this beautiful wedding in Sicily from Hilo and Ginger Photography. Mariella and Philip chose this stunning location while on holiday and you can see from the photos why they chose such an amazing venue. The views, the sea, the natural backdrop, all go together to make this wedding a real stunner. I just love the outdoor ceremony and the outdoor reception and when the sun goes down it looks even more beautiful. Full marks to groom Philip who chose these wonderful flowers, I love it when the groom gets involved and these blooms are a great selection.
Mariella and Philip were married on the 18th June 2016 at Tonnara di Scopello, Sicily, Italy. ‘We always knew that we wanted it to take place outdoors. So it had to be a summer wedding. And I wanted it to be next to the sea or a lake because I love the water. I didn’t want it to be too big but have all my loved ones with me. We were at vacation in Sicily and came across the Tonnara, and that’s when we knew were we want to have the wedding. We had 110 guests and the wedding took 9 months to plan.’
How they met
We were studying together, since Fall 2011.
The Proposal
It was in Paris, and very beautiful and romantic.
Why did you choose your photographer?
Well, my cousin is an amazing wedding photographer – but we wanted her to fully enjoy the day celebrating with us, so Luca said she has a great fit for the documentary part of the day who is also happy to let her edit and take photos of me (the Bridal Preperations) and our Wedding Portraits. After we met with Jakob, we knew that is the perfect match for us too and we were lucky to have them both.
The Dress
It was designed for me by Elisa Malec. The shoes were custom made for me by Pomme D’Or.
The suit and bridesmaids
Both Suits were made Taji, the bridesmaids wore whatever they wanted.
Theme or Colour scheme
The color palette had to match the scenery and my husband and I both wanted it to look natural. So we decided to go for the green of olive branches as main color and mix it with neutrals and fuchsia as an eyecatcher.
Flowers
What might be very unusual is that my husband chose all the flowers. We both decided on the olive branches as main decorative element but he chose all the flowers at the florist. And his mother helped him to pick the flowers for my bridal bouquet.
Decoration
See above, olive Branches & Fuchsia Flowers. Beautiful candles in matching glasses.
Food
We had an amazing buffet with freshly prepared Sicilian food, pasta, fish, vegetables…you name it. Every hot meal got prepared right at the Buffet, it was so cool.
Wedding Cake
The wedding cake was also made by our fantastic Caterer Riccardo Ballerini.
Entertainment
Our good friend played Saxophone at the wedding ceremony, the rest of the evening was Dj’s.
Stationery
Our good friend and amazing graphic designer Madita aka Mama Madita made our stationery
Personal Touches
Olive branches cut ourselves together with two old farmers organic olive oil production. That olive oil was a present for our guests. Labels with artwork of our great graphic designer. Sun cover white linen sheets with help of our friends.
Special Moments or Highlights
After we said yes and could finally kissed each other and then the speeches and prayers of our loved ones. Great to hear their loving words and wishes. At the party, when it started to rain, it was all outdoors without a cover, and everybody kept dancing in the rain . After the rain the party was even better then before.
So many of our guests made new friends – 2 families and a ton of friends became one big family over the weekend .
Advice for other couples
Don’t stress too much, stay calm it will be beautiful no matter what goes wrong, enjoy! You will have this day only once.
Biggest Surprise
The hilarious video our friends made for us.
