‘Woodland Hollow’ Romantic and Enchanting Wedding Inspiration

Today I am bringing you a beautiful styled shoot, full of opulence, luxe styling and an enchanting edge. The shoot took place in May 2021 at Woodland Hollow Weddings, Lidlington, Bedfordshire and was put together by Hannah from Fields & Festoons Outdoor Weddings and a top team of local wedding suppliers. The main purpose of the shoot was to showcase the venue Woodland Hollow Weddings, to show it’s delightful wedding backdrop, and to show that not all woodland weddings have to be light, bright and rustic. This shoot is full of luxe glamour, deep rich tones and a ‘grown up fairy-tale theme‘ the styling is impeccable, super glam, yet with a warm enchanting edge.

How would you describe the shoot in 2 sentences? A grown-up, romantic, enchanting fairytale. Elevating a naturally rustic and charming venue with some boho-luxe drama and elegance.

Hannah from Fields and Festoons tells us about the shoot

Woodland Hollow is a completely unique venue, set in what started life as a Christmas tree plantation with imposing tall firs, offering natural drama and a bold backdrop. Often used for rustic tipi and festival style weddings we wanted to showcase some of the fantastic local suppliers and the venue with an elevated and romantic style to the demonstrate the diversity it offers.

A naturally fairytale-esque location that completely enchants all who visit, with its entrance ensconced between imposing firs leading to a winding path through the tall evergreen trees. At a time when many outdoor venues and inspiration shoots were focusing on natural, light, laid back and rustic aspects we wanted to demonstrate a completely different style, a ‘grown-up fairytale’, with a luxe and rich feel, bold colours and bold photography. Gemma the stylist and I noticed that some of the evergreen firs produce deep burgundy toned berries that contrasted so beautifully with the deep greens of the trees and we wanted to take this marsala tone forward and compliment it with rich textures of velvet and other bold jewel tones, to really pop against the natural dark green backdrop.

The primary focus of the shoot was to showcase a completely unique location in a unique and strong manner, contrasting to the more common rustic themes of the venue and outdoor weddings, creating something completely enchanting, romantic and beautiful. We definitely achieved this and all loved the outcome of the shoot. We didn’t get to execute all of the external setups we had aimed for due to poor weather, however we embraced the rain and it certainly added some extra drama to the shoot!
