Today I have a real treat for you as I welcome my good friend Tracey...
Happy Monday everyone, I hope you all had a wonderful weekend? What did you get up to? As ours was so busy last weekend with Dexter’s birthday, this weekend we had a chilled one. We managed to get a few jobs done and on Sunday we went to Chatsworth with Dexter’s Nana. It was a lovely day out, just what we all needed! I have a jam packed week for you this week, starting off with this fun filled rainbow tipi wedding. Katie and Andy held an outdoor humanist hand fasting ceremony and then a tipi reception. They filled the whole day with so much colour, with their bright blooms and DIY decoration. They really went to town making this a super chilled out day and it looks like so much fun. Cassandra Lane was there to capture the day for us.
Katie and Andy were married on Saturday 3rd August 2019 at Penney Fields, Knutsford, Cheshire. They wanted to do their day differently and have a non-traditional wedding that was an alternative to other weddings they had attended before. They chose to do their day completely DIY and arrange it all themselves. The tipi was the starting point for their plans and became the focal point of their informal celebrations. Once they had settled on a tipi wedding, the couple chose Penney Fields in Knutsford for the location.
Katie & Andy chose to have an outdoor Humanist ceremony conducted by Louise from The Ceremony Company. Louise created a relaxed atmosphere for the ceremony, encouraging Katie & Andy to express themselves and show their personalities. Lots of laughs were shared by Katie & Andy and their guests throughout the ceremony! Louise led Andy & Katie in a hand-fasting ceremony in which members of their family helped them tie the knot by putting ribbons around their joined hands.
Katie chose a dramatic ivory gown by Maggie Sottero from Brides of Chester, complemented by a long veil. The style was classic and elegant, allowing Katie to accessorise her look with rainbow flowers. Andy wore a sharp blue bespoke suit from King & Allen.
Katie & Andy wanted their wedding to be child friendly. And as part of this chose to not have adult bridesmaids or groomsmen, instead having their children and niece and nephew as part of the bridal party. The flower girls wore awesome sparkly tops and pink tutus. The page boys wore blue short suits similar to Andy’s.
Theme or colour scheme
The visual theme of the day was colour! Katie & Andy chose rainbow florals and accessories. This perfectly complemented the relaxed feel of their wedding.
Katie & Andy chose Perfect Bouquet Full of Flower as their florist. They created a rainbow bouquet for Katie and matching buttonholes for the boys and flower crowns for the flower girls. Matching flowers were used to decorate their pink ombre wedding cake too. Their florist also created the beautiful arch for the ceremony (arch itself supplied by Bespoke Events & Styling) which provided a real centrepiece for the day.
Food and Cake
Katie & Andy chose a Spanish theme for their catering, which was the perfect relaxed choice for them. Tapas and cocktails were served during the drinks reception. Fresh paella and hot churros were served for the wedding breakfast.
The cake was provided by Pink Cocoa and was a beautiful pink ombre design with two tiers. It was decorated with fresh flowers in rainbow colours by Perfect Bouquet Full of Flower.
One of the best things about Katie & Andy’s day was seeing all their guests enjoying themselves outdoors. They had invited lots of children to their wedding, who were playing games, blowing bubbles and tucking into churros all afternoon. Once the dance floor was open, everyone was dancing the night away too!
Advice for other couples
Katie & Andy’s DIY vision for their day was hard work to put together, but really worth it! Their day was stunningly colourful and a real treat to photograph. What’s more, the guests had a blast and the kids were entertained too. The Timber & Canvas tipi was definitely the right choice for this fun-loving couple!
