Nikki and Paul’s Laid Back Summer Wedding at Home by Verman Photography

Today I have a beautiful English wedding for you. Set in the bride’s parents’ garden, this wedding is typically English, full of sweet details, homemade decor and so much charm. Nikki and Paul were married in the local church followed by a marquee reception in Nikki’s parents back garden, and what a beautifully decorated marquee it was. With a colour scheme of mainly greens mixed with accents of yellow from the glorious sunflowers, this wedding is super pretty and super seasonal. A lot of the decoration was put together by friends and family. I just love the hanging flower arrangements, they look amazing and so on trend. The bridesmaids dresses and bridal bouquet are so pretty, as for that BBQ, I need to go and get some food now, it’s making me hungry. Photos delivered to you by the super talented Verman Photography.

It was a laid back vibe, filled with sentimental touches throughout the day

Nikki and Paul were married on 6th August at Village church, Aspley Guise in Buckinghamshire, with the reception being held at Nikki’s parents garden. ‘We thought it was sentimental and personal to have in small village where Nikki grew up. We had 80 days guests and an additional 30 evening guests, it took 9 moths to plan.

How they met
At high school. 11 years (pre- wedding)

The proposal
On a beach in Nice. Paul had compiled a video montage of our travels and time together

Where did you splurge and where did you save?
Splurged on marquee and levelling the garden. Saved on flowers which were all picked from Nikki’s mother garden

How did you choose your photographer?
Web search and then Skype call. They seemed to understand who we were, shared interests and the type of laid back wedding we were planning

The dress
Nikki designed her own dress, and her jewellery was mother’s and grandmothers

The suit and bridesmaids
House of Fraser for Paul’s suit and ASOS for the dresses

Theme or colour scheme
Mainly greens, we didn’t want any pinks, reds, hearts type of decoration anywhere

Flowers
Lots of ferns, green foliage, gypsifillias, sunflowers

Decoration
We collected an assortment of different size jars and bottles. Some family and friends painted them and filled with flowers for the tables. Paul’s mum designed and made wooden signs with quotes posted throughout garden. She also made glass decorations for the favours.

Food
BBQ and salads

The wedding cake
Victoria sponge – quite a last minute thing from M&S as we forgot

Entertainment
Jazz band walked guests back from the church then played during day. Three friends then sang and played guitar later on in the day before a DJ later in the evening

Who supplied the stationery?
Garden leaves, prepared by friends/ family

Special moments
first dance and everyone joining in

Advice for other couples
Enjoy the build up and prep of te panning. Take time out to just yourselves during the day too

Biggest surprise
Our friends singing two of our favourite songs
