Today we are heading off to Wales for this super cute back garden wedding. Tim and Rebecca chose to hold the wedding in their back garden to keep costs low and to add a more personal element to their day. They enlisted friends and family into the wedding planning to help with jobs like decoration and design, along with creating the wedding breakfast and stationery. The wedding was a totally homemade affair which made the day even more memorable and enjoyable. Thanks to Kelly J Photography for the lovely images.
Time and Rebecca were married on 20th June 2015. The ceremony was held at Llwynegrin Hall, Mold and the reception in their garden at 3 Pottery Cottages, Ewloe. ‘We wanted a relaxed, family friendly gathering on our own terms! We had roughly 60 at the ceremony, and roughly 60 more at the reception. Planning took approximately a year.’
How they met
Roughly 10 years, and through our mutual love of music.
The Proposal
On the top of Snowdon, with our canine companion Lottie.
How did you allocate your budget
Carefully!
Where did you splurge and where did you save
The structure of the marquee in our garden was probably the biggest expense, but well worth it. We are lucky enough to be surrounded by wonderful creative family and friends, so decoration and food was a group effort!
How did you choose your photographer
Excellent customer service, and beautiful past projects.
The Dress
Dress from Monsoon! My shoes were from ASOS, and my accessories sourced from various high street shops.
The Suit and Bridesmaids
The bridesmaids chose their own dresses, which were a combination of Ghost, and ASOS. Tim’s suit was from Hugo Boss.
Theme or Colour Scheme
Muted pastel colours ran through my bouquet and the bridesmaid’s dresses, but I was fairly flexible with this. The marquee was a real mix of floral patterns and summer colours.
Flowers
Rustic flowers with a beautiful blue thistle.
Decoration
Homemade mostly! Beautiful bunting made by a family friend, locally sourced fresh flowers, hay bales from a local farmer, candles made by a friend also.
Food
A banquet! We had a bring your own dish affair, which worked brilliantly and provided the most delicious, varied spread.
Wedding Cake
Three tiers of cheese of course!
Entertainment
Giant Jenga, Cornthrow, a bouncy castle, hula hoops, croquet! A playlist of all our favourite songs.
The Stationery
Lovingly made by my Mum.
Personal or Handmade Touches
Our chickens looked on from their run, just next to the marquee!
Special Moments
Tim arriving to the ceremony on his bicycle! The smiles on everyone’s faces.
Advice to other couples
Enjoy every moment, it goes so very quickly! Try not to worry about the small things, it will all work out in the end.
Biggest surprise
My wedding day gift from Tim – a beautiful silver leaf necklace.

Based in Somerset & Bristol. My style is unobtrusive, relaxed and a little bit alternative.
I specialise in Documentary Wedding Photography in Somerset & Bristol and I love capturing the day naturally as it unfolds in front of me, with a few creative portraits mixed in for good measure.
Kelly did a great job with the photography, really captured the moments!
Thank you :)
