Good afternoon everyone – I hope you are enjoying this warm sunny weather, finally! To help with the summer vibes I have a fabulous styled shoot for you today from one of Kelly’s favourite places, Ibiza! With some gorgeous Boho styling, elegant tablescapes and imaginative floristry, this is such a simple yet beautiful gathering of boho island inspiration. With a write up and images from photographer Nigel Edgecombe, his collaboration here with Cardamom Events and El Ramo de Flores has definitely produced something special!
I approached one of the island’s top wedding planners, Cardamom Events, with the idea for a shoot where some lovely Ibiza-creatives could get together & showcase how they see weddings. Not necessarily the work their clients & couples ask them for, but instead a showcase incorporating new ideas they may have, or approaches they rarely get to take at weddings. “Anything goes, play jazz!” I said. The dream team at Cardamom took the reigns and brought on board most of the other vendors, including superstar floral designers El Ramo de Flores, who really went to town with their ideas, especially their bohemian creations, mixing traditional & non-traditional blooms with feathers & pamplegrass.
Ibiza contains enough inspiration in and of itself. We wanted to draw upon it’s charming melting pot of ideas, with a colourful look that was grounded in reality – not too dreamy. This is why we brought in Domenico Acanfora to create these vivid cocktails, and Ally Beattie, who conceived of some delicious canapes. We wanted vibrance, and the simple element we chose to bind everything together was elegance. Everything had to be elegant.
Cardamom & El Ramo de Flores created several spaces where the ideas took shape:
Cardamom’s rustic-luxury tablescape, with gold-rimmed glasses, plates & flatware. Completed by El Ramo de Flores floor-draped floral runner. El Ramo de Flores white Peacock chairs, which had a lovely regal quality without being ostentatious. Cardamom’s bohemian lounge. Morocco by way of Ibiza, filled with fur, floor pillows & poufs, luxuriously laid on colourful woven rugs. El Ramo de Flores bohemian tipi wedding arch, with red & white florals & feathers. Cardamom’s solid wood boxed-arch with oversize lanterns & white florals.
A strong sense of colourful elegance & romance, which we achieved, thanks to the creatives & our beautiful real couple, who made my job easier behind the lens. This was really two shoots rolled into one, with some more traditional elements & also the bohemian ideas.
I’m going to collaborate with Cardamom again very soon – at present we’re waiting on a date for a gorgeous beachside venue to plan something special.
