When your sister is a wedding photographer then you just know that your photos are going to look amazing, and that is certainly true for today’s wedding. Stacy Paul Photography always delivers when it comes to cute, individual, eclectic weddings and her sister Eryn chose a beautiful location to hold her celebrations. I just love the ‘Old Florida’ theme that they have gone for, topped off perfectly with the fab mustard yellow and navy colour scheme. The little DIY touches are just gorgeous, as are the flowers, so bright and beautiful. What a perfect wedding day.
Eryn and Chad were married on 12th March 2016 at St Pete Shuffleboard Club, St. Petersburg in Florida. ‘We were looking for a venue that would provide our100 guests with fun, unique activities. It took about a year to plan.’
How they met
We met through mutual friends 7 years ago.
The proposal
Chad proposed while we were traveling in Italy. He knew that the dome in Florence was the place I was looking forward to seeing most, so he popped the question while we were at the top. It was a complete surprise.
How did allocate your budget
We didn’t really set a budget, we just winged it. The most expensive thing ended up being the open bar.
Where did you splurge and where did you save
We splurged on the open bar. It was important to us that our guests really enjoy themselves. We saved on the photography. My sister just happens to be a wedding photographer, and she gifted the photography to us as a wedding present.
How did you choose your photographer
As I mentioned before, Stacy is my sister. I took the photos for her elopement back before she was a photographer, so it only seemed right that she photograph my wedding too.
The Dress
Jon’s bridal
The suit and bridesmaids
Dillard’s
Theme or colour scheme
Navy Blue and mustard yellow were our colors. The overall theme was old Florida.
Flowers
Mainly sunflowers
Decoration
I used modge podge to affix old Florida postcards to small wooden boxes, then filled them with flowers. I also wrapped old wine bottles in twine for on the guest tables at the reception. Other than that, most of the decor was already there.
Food
We had a buffet style bbq meal including smoked chicken and beef brisket, homemade corn bread, southern style green beans, cheesy potatoes and a fresh strawberry and mandarin salad.
Cake
The cake came from Publix bakery, I made the topper myself.
Entertainment
We had a DJ, and also secured several of the courts for playing shuffleboard.
Stationery
Etsy
Any personal or handmade touches
I made the cake topper and the table centrepieces. I also hand painted each of the tins that contained a planted succulent for each guest.
Special moments
Honestly, I think I enjoyed the reception the most. It was nice to be able to sit back and relax with friends and family.
Advice for other couples
Don’t stress. Things will go wrong, but in the grand scheme of things, they will be minor. Enjoy it, because it goes by faster than you’d think.
Biggest surprise
How quickly it was over.
