Yay for Friday! I hope you have all had a lovely week, despite the rubbish weather we have been dealt this week! My weekend starts here, as I am off work today, and we are going on the Nursery summer trip to Yorkshire wildlife park. Dexter is very excited, as am I, but I’m already looking forward to wine o’clock, the 8.30am pick up means it’s going to be a very long day!
We are finishing off our week with this lovely Florida wedding from Boho regular Stacy Paul Photography . It’s the wedding of Yoko and Nicholas who held an outdoor ceremony followed by a vintage inspired blush and gold reception, with lots of gold sparkle for decoration. Happy Friday everyone, have a good one.
Yoko and Nicholas were married on the 4th August at Bok Tower Gardens, Florida. ‘Bok Tower Gardens offers garden ceremonies and indoor receptions. Also the location is secluded (not to mention the scenery is gorgeous!) and only one wedding (ceremony & reception package) per day plan makes the big day extra special and private. Carillon bell adds romantic touch to the ceremony. We had 50 guests and the wedding took 1 year to plan.’
How they met
We met over the online dating service (e-harmony). We’ve been together for 5 years.
The Proposal
Nick took me to the restaurant that I’ve always wanted to try on our anniversary. At their private dessert room, he took out a photobook that he’d been secretly making using photos we took over the years. I was very excited to look through pictures but not paying attention much to writing on pages, so he asked me to read the last page. I opened the book again and read the very last page “… Shutterfly?”
“What!? No,no, the page before that!” said Nick. The page said “Happiness is everything about you. Love is us, together.” Then he kneeled down and popped the question “I want to be with you for many more years to come. Would you marry me?” and I replied “Thank you! But let me think about it…” Of course I was joking but I couldn’t help it. We goof around like that all the time and I love him for letting me be that way. By the way my serious answer was big “Yes!”
How did you allocate your budget?
We had to execute spending more strictly toward to the end of planning, but overall it was within our original budget. Lots of DIY and crafty ideas.
Where did you splurge and where did you save?
The location, flowers and photography are the splurges because they are the crucial part of our wedding and what we remember forever. We saved on decors using whimsical crafty DIY items.
Why did you choose your photographer?
We love her artistic style and professionalism.
The Dress
Dress was from COCOMELODY, and shoes were Betsey Johnson. My accessories were from my mother- in-law (something borrowed!)
The Suit and Bridesmaids
Groom Suit from Tommy Hilfiger and the Bridesmaid wore Chi Chi London
Theme or Colour Scheme
Our theme was vintage, romantic, whimsical with a colour scheme of blush, gold, ivory, and touch of red
Flowers
Eclectic mix of greens and flowers achieving “gathered from the garden” look.
Decoration
I had different types of vintage flower vases painted in rose gold, gold, and gold sparkles on clear. Also small vintage glasses painted in same styles for votive candles. Gold paper doilies with part of ceremony reading printed for plate chargers. Collection of various ribbons to decorate chairs along the aisle.
Food
Dinner was buffet style with main dish of prime rib and baked chicken.
Wedding Cake
Lemon Blackberry Thyme pie and Strawberry Basil pie
Who supplied the stationery?
Self design printing using Vistaprint service
Personal Touches
We made memorial display wall for both of our grandmothers who recently passed away.
Special Moments or Highlights
First dance and family dances. Although we had to cram our dance lessons in very short amount of time, we all enjoyed the moment, and best part is, we never froze up! Nothing like performing in front of audience. Scary and exciting.
Advice for other couples
Plan ahead and start executing early. Try not to add new things toward to the end of planning and leave plenty of days prior to the wedding for relaxation and pampering yourself to be worry free on the big day. Don’t lose your sleep.
Biggest Surprise
The weather. I just can’t get over it. We probably used years worth of luck to have the perfect weather on the perfect day.
