DIY Tutorial: Table Centre Arrangment with Garden Grown & Locally Sourced Flowers.

Flowers really can lift a wedding, personally I am a big fan of adding as many flowers as you can to your wedding ceremony and reception, I think they are super pretty and such a lovely way to add your own personality to your day. Today Claire from Plant Passion is here to show you how to put together a beautiful table centre arrangement for your wedding reception. It’s so easy and in a bid to move away from the smaller arrangements that jam jars give, this arrangement is substantial and will take up more space on your table. 

• Flowers we used: White Sweet Williams, Campanulas, Tritelias, Cornflowers and Roses

Jam jars are fantastic for table centre arrangements, but if you’ve got more than 6-8 placings on a table, a single jam jar is going to look rather lonely. – Rather than have a batch of them, – go big with this DIY table arrangement.

• Before you start condition your flowers well, this will mean they will last the whole party and still be ready to be given as presents at the end.

STEP 1) If you’re not confident about making a cradle of your foliage, then use a small piece of chicken wire balled up in the bottom of the container, to hold the stems at angles

STEP 2) The foliage is the most important, don’t forget garden herbs, such as Sage, Lemon balm, and Mint to give you scent. Here we’ve used Bulplurum, Mint, and Alchemilla Mollis.

STEP 3) Use seed heads and grasses to add interest, – in the summer there are lots of exciting seedpods to be found in gardens and at your local growers

STEP 4) Only when you have a complete backdrop of foliage, start to add your flowers.

STEP 5) Even if your display isn’t large, don’t be afraid to use bigger flowers, and use Flowers in bud as well as fully out in bloom.

STEP 6) Include a complimentary or clashing colour to ensure the display stands out

STEP 7) If you’ve got a special flower such as Roses,  – tuck them in last, so that they are the object of the display.
