Todays Featured supplier is the rather speical Doodle Love Stationery. I discovered Doodle Love when I was searching for an original mothers day card. I’m not sure if Lela found me or if I found her, but all the same I instatly loved her work. It’s fun, quirky and not your normal stationery, weather that be wedding stationery, birthday cards, mothers day cards…..or any other sort of stationery you may want or need! So after discovering Lela’s work I knew that I wanted to feature her on the blog…so here we are!!
I’ll let Lela tell you in her own words:
My name is Lela Cribbin and I’m a 32 year old graphic designer (& mum!) based in Manchester, who loves to create stationery with personality. Doodlelove was set up in April 2010 and was inspired by my own upcoming wedding, long bike rides in the sun, steaming brews in china cups and doodling in my favorite cafe.
Why I set Up: After 13 years of going out with my hubby (we were college love birds) he finally popped the question under the starry French sky and i was head over heels in love all over again! As soon as we got back to the UK I started looking for wedding inspiration and was really disappointed by some of the designs that were on offer. I’m a serious tom boy (even though my 3 year old is trying her hardest to get me into pink long dresses) so not big on ribbons, over the top typography or fancy bows and that’s when i stumbled across Etsy and fell in love with whole world of quirky, stylish and casual invitation ideas. During this time I was also asked to be a Maid of Honour at my best friends wedding and hugely inspired by all that i had seen on Etsy, I then offered to do her wedding stationery. She was over the moon and really delighted with my work and some of the guests even pinched the menu’s they liked them so much! This was a great confidence booster so I decided to open my own little shop on Etsy.
12 months later and doodlelove is going from strength to strength with orders from the UK and all over the world including Beijing, Australia, Canada and USA. I also now design greeting cards and limited edition prints, which have had an amazing feedback from all those people who loved my work but just weren’t getting married! As I’m a serious romantic i started off designing love themed cards for valentines day and anniversaries but the range now includes birthdays, mothers day cards, Christmas cards, thank you cards etc. They are now stocked in 15 shops and I’m hoping to expand this very soon.
Whats next….
I’m now really happy with my style which infuses paper+ personality and which typically combines, clean lines with bright splashes of colour and bold typography. I now want to take the time to update my shop with all the new designs that i have bouncing around my head and also work closely with more brides and wedding planners in the UK
Favourite Designs: Lovers Crossing is my favorite as it’s just so not a typical wedding invitation design yet customers love it! I dreamt it up on my 10 mile cycle commute to my day job (i’m a graphic designer for a community sports company) and i just couldn’t get the idea out of my head. When i launched it on Etsy i was really nervous but i got so many views and compliments from ‘brides to be’ who were so happy that they had finally found a design which was “just so them” that i felt more confident about my ideas and direction.

Thanks for featuring my work on your seriously lovely inspiring blog. Tis much appreciated:)
So glad you featured Doodle Love. Was really pleased when you mentioned her Mother’s Day card and is now great to see a full feature.
Found DL on Etsy a few months ago and found her work extremely refreshing in a world of saccharine sweet weddingness – which doesn’t suit either me or my hubbie-to-be.
Loved her Roundabout and Lovers Crossing so much that I ordered the bespoke pdfs for our wedding invites – just got to get them back from the printers now… very excited! Then we’ll be looking at the fab table plans.
Lela is an absolute delight to work with – I would highly recommend Doodle Love to all. She was extremely accommodating tweaking orders to suits printing requirements and we’re delighted with the results.
Can’t praise her enough! Another great featured supplier choice Kelly ;o)
