I just love todays weddng, a real mix of rustic elegance amongst the most amazing backdrop. Ingrid and Darren chose Deer Valley in Utah as their wedding venue as Darren worked there as ski instructor, which leads us to the rather breathing portrait shots on the ski lift! Green is one of my favourite colours so the decoration is a personal favourite of mine. Mixing in nature really creates an outside in feeling to the day, with fruits, moss and bark doing a wonderful job, amongst the gorgeous fabrics included in the table decoration. All the little touches to this wedding are just fantastic, so much thought has gone into the finer details. A wonderful day from beginning to end, with fabulous photos from Pepper Nix Photography.
Ingrid and Darren were married on 18th August at Deer Valley Resort, Utah. The ceremony location was at Empire Lodge, Deer Valley. ‘We choose the location the first day we went looking for venues, we fall in love with the lodge and surroundings, very romantic. Furthermore, Deer Valley means a lot to us since my husband worked as an ski instructor there and we go skiing there all the winters. I learned how to ski in the slopes of Deer Valley. We always dreamed of a wedding in the outdoors. The setting is majestic.
How they met

The Proposal
It was a surprise, my husband proposed during the art festival in park city
The Dress
I got a dress that fit me nicely from Pronovias, I purchased it at Danielle’s Bridal, Holladay, UT. I used that dress as a base to create the dress of my dreams. Donna, the seamstress at Danielle’s bridal, customised my dress adding buttons to the back and French lace as instructed. The veil lace matched the dress. Shoes were Kate Spade.
Ring designer: S.H Zell & Sons, NY (the diamond belonged to my husband grandmother, he re set it in a new designed ring) Jewellery: Pearl and diamond earrings that my mother in law gave me as a present. I borrowed a diamond and pearls bracelet from my sister in law, she used it in her wedding.
The Suit
Taupe suit from Hickey Freeman, Nordstrom
Flowers
Green cymbidium orchids, hydrangea, graden roses, rununculus, aspen branches, moss balls, chocolate cosmos, china berry, artichokes, hanging amaranthus, hosta leaves, stephanotis, green apples, kale and succulents. Apple green, browns, shades of white and ivory.
Decoration
We wanted the overall look to be simple, moderns, organic, elegant and relaxed. We wanted our wedding colours to match the surroundings, the aspens leaves were the inspiration for the green, the barks’lodges for the brown and Ivory is a very elegant colour inspired by wildflowers and my dress.
Wedding Cake
Deer Valley bakery custom made our cake, we mixed mocha and banana which created a flavor sensation. The layers were chocolate mousse with coffee buttercream and a coffee-moistened almond cake for the mocha, and bananas, chocolate ganache and an Amaretto-moistened cake for the other. The cake was set on top of aspen logs.
Special Moments
Breaking the glass, we made a variation, we both did it. A Jewish Tradition. I cried walking down the isle, loved the ceremony when we said, Yes!! We loved our first dance and dancing with all the people we loved, specially during the horah
Advice to other couples
