Today we welcome back the lovely Laura from The Mrs Makes to the Blog for today’s DIY Tutorial. Laura has been married for exactly a month today and I can’t wait to share with you her wedding photos which will be coming upon the blog very soon. You will be able to spot a lot of the items she has made for these tutorials when the pictures go up, including today’s tutorial.
Today Laura is showing us how to make this cute Seating Plan out of old picture frames. This is a great tutorial as it is effective but relatively easy to do and won’t cost the earth to put together. It can also be customised to make it personal to you. You can use small picture frames, or massive ones, you can have if hanging from trees, or propped up against a table in a venue, the choice is yours.
Step 1) Clean your frames and paint. They will need a few coats!
Step 2) Once the frames are dry criss-cross string across the back of the frame, securing at either side with glue.
Step 3) Once the glue is dry make sure all the string is dry – you might need to glue some more!
Step 4) Now, depending on where your frames are hanging, you can paint the backs and cover any messy gluey bits.
Step 5) Once it’s all dry, cut out a sign for the top, and write on your message. Add your guests names onto each luggage tags (I have one tag per table. You might need more!)
Step 6) Write the table number on to the pegs
Step 7) Peg them all on to the string like a washing line. If Barbies wore knickers I’d be pegging some of them on too just for comedy value!
Step 8) Using fishing wire hang your frames from a nearby tree/inside your marquee/against some fabulous wallpaper inside your dining room. This is so customisable; I can imagine some gold gilt frames for a luxurious look, rustic wood for a seaside theme of like me, just a fit of what you fancy.
