It has to be said that one of my favourite parts of any wedding is...
I love it when I discover new talent in the wedding industry especially when that new talent is right on my own doorstep, so when I met Victoria from Victoria Made at a wedding fair this summer I was over the moon to find a contemporary wedding cake designer with some fresh ideas and a new approach to her business.
I went to visit Victoria a couple of weeks after the show nad she treated me to a sample of her exquisite cakes! and from there we have been friends since.
If you are coming to my Christmas Party on 7th December you will be lucky enough to sample some of Victorias delights as she is making some Christmas treats for us all to share!
I have asked Victoria to introduce herself and tell us a bit more about her and her work.
“I launched Victoria Made full-time this year after 3 years making cakes on top of my other job as a fitness facility manager for a university (I had been a chef/catering manager before so not a strange leap!). I took this time to learn the trade and to develop my own style and explore different areas for inspiration.
As I go along I am leaning towards very modern styles as another option against the more traditional cakes. I’m not a fan of anything too girly and as I sit here I can’t remember the last time I incorporated ribbon in one of my own designs…! I create cakes that are stand alone designs rather than those built around a wedding or theme as I feel always looking towards weddings doesn’t give enough inspiration to produce anything different. I am still happy to theme cakes but will always have a ‘collection’ of my own to choose from.
I work alone, so from consultation right through to delivery I offer a very personal, bespoke service. I have no plans to expand, preferring to keep to a limited amount of orders so that I can devote as much time and creativity to each one as is possible, I would never want to get to the stage where I am ‘churning’ high volume out.
I also produce other items such as cookie favours, cupcakes and other desserts with a nod to the rise of the desert table.
I am based in Yorkshire but will deliver to most of the UK dependant on order and am receiving a lot of enquiries from the South and London especially at the moment so distance is no problem. I offer phone/email consultations and can courier samples to make it easier to cater for those a bit further afield but am always happy to travel to meet if necessary.
Am happy to say that my profile seems to be rising slowly with some exciting partnerships hopefully to be firmed up in the new year, so with any luck will be up to my eyeballs in cake for some time to come!”
Thanks you Victoria. I can’t wait to see what wonderful Christmas creations Victoria comes up with for the party on the 7th!
