Welcome To The Jungle – Tipi Wedding Inspiration

This afternoon I have a shoot that is bound to add a bit of warmth to your day. I love seeing colour in weddings. It normally comes from the flowers but today’s shoot shows us that it can come from every aspect of your day. The decoration, the furniture, the cake, there really are no limits when it comes to adding patterns, colour and texture into your day. I am also loving the tropical jungle theme, so on trend at the moment! The shoot took place last September at Cattows Farm in Leicestershire and is the brain child of Jodie at Sami Tipi. Styled and put together by Cathy from Boelle Events and photographed by Darren Cresswell.

Filled with energy, colour and bohemian inspiration. It was amazing to shoot something so vibrant and fresh.

Rene and Hunter’s Handmade Boho Chic Outdoor Wedding by Jessica Ryan Photography

After taking the day off yesterday to celebrate my birthday, I am back and ready to go with another fabulous real wedding. Rene and Hunter were married on 16th September 2017 at The Tar Roof Virginia Beach and the whole day is a wonderful mixture of Boho Chic, meets rustic relaxation. Rene’s family played a big part in puling the day together. Her mother did all the decoration, including the flowers and I have to say she did a wonderful job. With a gorgeous first look and their baby daughter stealing the show as she is pulled down the aisle in a cart, there are just so many super sweet moments to this magical day. Big thanks to Jessica Ryan Photography for the wonderful photos.

Karina and Jonathan’s ‘Home’ Themed Retro Boho California Desert Wedding by Westlund Photography

Happy Wednesday everyone, today is a very happy day indeed because it’s my birthday! I have taken the day off work, as has Nik, and we are off for a day of birthday fun. Starting off with brunch, a spot of shopping and then we are off to watch Blank Panther. Then we are picking Dexter up from nursery and all going out for a birthday tea. I can’t wait! Because it’s my birthday, I have chosen a super special Boho wedding for you today. It’s one of my favourites so far this year. It’s the wedding of Karina and Jonathan who were married in the California Desert, planned by Nicole George Event Planning & Design and captured perfectly by Westlund Photography. The whole day is a real feast for the eyes. Taking inspiration from their love of everything retro and vintage, they filled their wedding area with an eclectic mix of furniture, rugs, decoration and general bit and bobs. The cool desert backdrop really adds that something special to the entire day and I just adore everything about it.

Worth the wait!

Karina and Jonathan were married on 21st October 21st 2017 at Rimrock Ranch, Pioneertown in California. ‘We fell in love with Rimrock Ranch the moment we stepped foot on the property. The high desert ranch was inviting and homey, yet isolated from the busy city we were used to in San Francisco. We loved the idea of pulling our guests off the grid and away from technology and civilization to be in the moment with us for the entire celebration, we had 150 guests. Although we had an idea of what we wanted prior to the engagement, the actual wedding planning took almost an entire year of hard work. Much of the work came from spending weekends driving through neighborhoods looking for garage  sales and shops to find the vintage decor. It was a ton of work, but well worth it. Most importantly, we had fun doing it.

Ask The Experts: Why Your Friend Shouldn’t Photograph Your Wedding (Unless They Are A Professional!)

This afternoon we are talking wedding photography with resident Boho Photography experts, James & Lianne, back to the blog to give a somewhat cautionary tale… of sourcing your wedding photography to friends! I’m sure there are many out there who have done so successfully, but this piece is certainly a thought provoker and one that shouldn’t be taken lightly. And after all, if you read this and still decide to scriMp on your photography, we did tell you so!

Why Your Friend Shouldn't Photograph Your Wedding (Unless They Are A Professional!) Why Your Friend Shouldn't Photograph Your Wedding (Unless They Are A Professional!) Why Your Friend Shouldn't Photograph Your Wedding (Unless They Are A Professional!)

Many a-time we hear tales of regret from people who had ‘a friend’ photograph their wedding. Often it’s someone who ‘has a nice camera’ and ‘takes lots of photos’ that gets the gig because y’know, why wouldn’t they be able to photograph a wedding… photos are photos, right? Right!?

Alaw and Gari’s Rustic Chic Farm Wedding by Nesta Lloyd

Today’s real wedding sees us head across to North Wales for the gorgeous wedding of Alaw and Gari. Alaw’s family own a farm so it seemed only right that they hold their reception on it and the results are this gorgeous ‘Rustic Chic’ day. The whole wedding is filled with so many amazing decoration ideas, I just adore the huge hanging flower chandelier. They also had flowers in milk churns, hay bales, festoon and fairy lights, hand-made bunting, all of which go towards creating the most amazing looking farm wedding. Nesta Lloyd has captured the day perfectly, I know you are going to love it.

Our wedding day felt so unique and personal, it reflected both our personalities and encompassed so much of what we love. It was also family orientated and a chance to get really creative!

Alaw and Gari were married on 26th August 2017 at  their local chapel ‘Capel Llannefydd’ with the reception on Alaw’s parents’ farm in the machinery shed! We decided to hold the ceremony in the village chapel where Alaw attended with her Grandmother, Mother and siblings when living in the village and the reception venue was a no-brainer as it was where Alaw grew up, on the family farm in the barn! We had 120 guests in the dday and 250 in the evening. Gari proposed on my birthday, May 2016 so we got planning straight away! It took roughly 15 months.
