Featured Supplier: The Original Crepe Company

I love finding new suppliers to work with, especially when it something that seems relatively new to the wedding industry, so when Andrew Kenyon from The original Crepe Company came and introduced himself to me at the Tatton Wedding Show a couple of weeks back, I was delighted to hear about what he did (especially as it was food related)

Original Crepe Company

Andrew tells me about his Crepe Company and how it all started:

‘After attending a series of friends’ weddings with predictable catering options, we realized that weddings were aching to be freshened up with a new, fun, exciting alternative to the stale and predictable chocolate fountain/buffet/candy bar options.
We had been running our own business making crepes professionally for 6 years and realised that if we could be creative and present our product in the appropriate way, then crêpes would be an absolutely ideal feature to have at a wedding – they are fun, stylish and everybody loves them!’

‘Nobody else in the country specialises in crepe catering so we were breaking new ground and we had no footsteps to follow in – it was all a leap of faith and required a lot of dedication and imagination.  It all paid off when we began catering at weddings for real, and the response we received from the brides and guests was truly amazing. We never dreamed it would have been so enthusiastic!’

‘Crepes are really versatile and can be incorporated into any part of a wedding. Mostly they are used as a stylish alternative to a chocolate fountain at a reception, but they also act as a very nice dessert to a hogroast or as a compliment to an evening buffet, or even as a slightly more substantial alternative to canapes. All our crepes are handmade to order in front of the guests (they love to watch crêpes being made!) and we offer  a range of around 20 different flavours which are mainly sweet, although we do offer savoury options too. Our menu has evolved over the years and we think that our best one is probably Bailey’s & Cadbury Buttons…or maybe Nutella & Banana….or Milky Bar & Strawberry…or Maple Syrup & Ice Cream….or….’

‘We can work indoors or outdoors (we have a beautiful mini-marquee) and offer nationwide coverage. Our illuminated workstations can match any wedding colour scheme and we can even offer personalisations in terms of specially printed menus or particular requests in terms of flavours etc. We are almost as versatile as our crepes!’

Personally I’m a big fan of crepes, and seeing Andrews stand at Tatton made me realise I don’t eat enough of them, even writing this is making me hungry!! I think it’s such a great idea for any wedding , party or event and have suggested it to a number of my clients already!  Andrew comes across as incredibly professional, and full of passion for what he does, his crepe unit looks superb in real life………….I may just hire him to come to my house and make me rum, cocnut and chocolate crepes till I’m sick!!
