Today’s Bridal style feature actual comes in the form of an ‘Ask Boho’ feature, A couple of weeks ago I got an email from one of my readers asking me to help them, this is what the email said.
‘I was wondering if I could pick your brains. I am getting married in Italy and am looking for a light, knee length, lace dress however Am struggling to find any shops or designers that have a good choice. Any ideas or suggestions?
I can only find similar things to what I’m looking for on the American copy websites which really isn’t the route I want to go and am struggling to find a designer and maker. Basically as the wedding is in Sorrento in August it will be about 35 degrees and after a trip last week to plan I decided I would rather get a much lighter dress and actually be smiling on the photos. I would love strapless so I don’t end up with strap lines as the reception is at a beach club which is what I am really struggling with. I am in Epsom in Surrey but close to London I’m originally from Lincolnshire and my parents still live there so places around there would be useful too.
I absolutely love the blog by the way and have so many ideas already to take to Italy so thank you very much.’
So I decided that I would make it my mission to help Helen my lovely reader and see if I could find her dream dress, so todays Post is decided to Helen and showing both you and her what options she has for such a dress.
I have scoured the internet and asked a few friends to help come up with some suggestions, and this is what I found.
The first thing I thought of was to get a dress made, so here are a few suggestions:
Joanne Fleming (Based in Brighton) www.joanneflemingdesign.com
Joanne is AMAZING, she is a true professional and has some amazing wedding and evening dresses under her belt! She is a truly versatial designer and doesn’t just stick to one style, so would be the perfect person to make Helen’s dress. Based in Brighton she isn’t to far away for a fitting either.
Fur Coat no Knickers www.furcoatnoknickers.co.uk
A relaxed Boutique in London full of gorgeous vintage wedding dresses that can be customised and fit to your size and taste. They also run a full bespoke service where you could have your very own version of your dream dress made using fabric of our choice, a mix of styles…….again other perfect option for Helen.

Have you checked out Anthony candy? Based in London, collection is mostly short 60s style dresses, all seem reasonabley priced! and I LOVE them! Though maybe too many layers for it to be as cool as your looking for! Also Blue bridal wear based in Wales have a lot of shorter dresses and are made to measure! If all else fails, the web sites of these companies provide beautiful eye candy!! Good luck!
* candy Anthony – my mistake! Too excited by pretty dresses!
