Nicole and Caleb’s Intimate Camp Wedding in the Mountains of Washington State by The Cardinals

Today we head to Washington State as we celebrate the gorgeous wedding of Nicole and Caleb who were married on 7th September 2024 at Mt Baker. They showed off their love of the outdoors and held the ceremony up in the mountains with the most stunning backdrop and then dropped down to lower ground for a camp style wedding reception. The whole day was filled with nature, adventure, nostalgia their pet dog and a relaxed vibe and has been captured perfectly by The Cardinals.

Nicole and Caleb first bonded over their shared love of sports and music, often spending early dates wandering through record stores together. That pastime grew into a cherished tradition, as each year, they exchange their “top 10” albums to broaden each other’s horizons. After five years together, Caleb proposed during a snow and ice storm that shut down the entire Oregon coast. The couple had traveled to Astoria for what was meant to be a quiet weekend, only to find themselves completely snowed in. Board games and cozy time together helped pass the time. On their final day, as the ice began to thaw, they ventured to Cannon Beach for lunch. Along the way, Caleb suggested stopping at Haystack Rock to admire the beautiful ice-covered shoreline. While taking in the view, she turned to find Caleb down on one knee. “My reaction?” she wrote. “I ran away. And cried. And then ran back so we could make it official.”

With Mount Baker woven into Nicole’s childhood memories, she and Caleb chose the beloved peak as the backdrop for their intimate wedding, rooted in family connection and the beginning of their chapter together. The couple’s vision for a vintage summer camp theme naturally inspired a relaxed, nostalgic outdoor mood. It was guided by a set color palette of cornflower blue, moss green, butter yellow, and rust, which touched every detail from decor to attire. A favorite element was the custom “camp” banner they designed, now proudly hanging in their home. Mount Baker lent the day a moody, cinematic feel, as smoke from nearby forest fires drifted through the air. The couple shared a first look along the Nooksack River, where they were surprised to see their dog leap straight into the water — a completely out-of-character move for a pet who usually “avoids it at all costs.” The unexpected splash set a lighthearted tone for the rest of the celebration. Wanting something beyond the traditional white dress, Nicole wore a Hope & Ivy gown adorned with colorful sequined flowers, evoking a 1970s vibe. Caleb complemented her look with a linen suit, achieving a balance of polish and ease. Custom charms and stickers featuring their dog, Hazel, were a hit with their eighteen guests — small keepsakes capturing the love, laughter, and camp spirit of the day. Their advice to others? “Take things slow and be intentional,” a choice that allowed for a relaxed, joyful energy for both them and their guests.
