Happy Friday everyone, I hope you have all had a fabulous week and that the sun is shining where you are, do you have anything fun planned for the weekend? Nik and Dexter are off to Scout camp this weekend, so I have the weekend to myself. I’ll be enjoying some ‘me time’ catching up on admin, seeing friends going out for dinner, watching films…..I can’t wait! Sunday is fathers day, so if Nik isn’t too exhausted after camping we will be going out for dinner. But before the weekend can happen I have this gorgeous Eco Friendly wedding to share with you. Diana and Nick were married on 11th January 2025 at Hacienda222 in Puerto Rico. Diana wore the most stunning Rue De Seine gown which works perfectly against the tropical backdrop. The venue was completely Eco Friendly which is why the couple picked it, working perfectly with their ethos and way of living. The whole day is bright, chilled and looks amazing, big thanks to Erin Covey Creative for the gorgeous photos.
As small business owners themselves, Diana and Nick place an extraordinary amount of value on supporting other local businesses. The wedding venue they chose is family-owned and farm-to-table with locally sourced ingredients. Staff at Hacienda222 make their own coconut milk from the coconuts that grow on the property (and put on the guests mahi mahi), the florals come from an organic farmer in the mountains of Puerto Rico and the wood charger plates are locally made from mahogany trees that fell during Hurricane Maria. The venue is also off the grid and doesn’t use single use plastics. Similarly, the bride (who runs a catering and event space in NY) doesn’t use artificial colouring or flavouring in her baked goods and custom wedding cakes. So, there was a big effort to be sustainable. The couple chose a whimsical aesthetic, with linen suits for the guys and a flowing colorful Rue de Seine gown for the bride. Every design choice was intentional, including every song that was placed during the reception, since the couple met on the Phish music scene traveling with their tight-knit group of friends. Some other unique elements: the bride’s wedding ring was also worn by her mother (in 1984) and her great great grandmother (in 1906) for their weddings. The venue also has real livestock that the guests could pet.
