Katlyn and Brad’s Rustic and Sustainable, Outdoor Boho Wedding by CB Studio

I often get a wedding land in my in box than embodies all that is ‘Boho‘ and today’s wedding is one of those. Katlyn and Brad were married on 9th October at the Christian Conference Center in Newton, Iowa and they held a wedding filled with boho/hippie vibes. The day is based around nature from the wedding flowers which were planted months before the wedding by the bride to the rustic stick tepee used for the ceremony. A unity ceremony with a tree planting, a confetti toss of dried herbs, personally written songs and a Viking ritual, just a few things that make this wedding truly unique. This wedding was extremely unique in the aspect that almost all the details were nature inspired and sustainable with a strong authentic boho/hippie theme. The bride planted wildflower seeds this spring on her mother’s property and then hand picked them the day before the wedding creating ALL arrangements (bouquets, ceremony and reception arrangements) by hand, themselves. The wedding band is nature inspired replacing the traditional diamond with a moonstone. The bride even carried rose quartz, crystal and Dalmatian stone for their respective meanings. The ceremony took place outdoors, overlooking a pond at the Christian Conference Center in Newton, IA were the bride and groom created a rustic stick teepee to be wed under. All the bridesmaids and the bride herself walked down the aisle barefoot. During the ceremony all guests took part in a toast as the wedding party shared a drink from a cattle horn. The couple created their own vows and the groom swapped out traditional words for a very beautiful indie folk song he wrote himself as a gift to his new bride. During the unity ceremony the couple opted for a tree planting with their sweet little boys. The tree will be planted at the family’s home. Following the ceremony the couple exited with a dried herb toss featuring sage, basil and lavender. The outdoor reception included fresh picked wildflower arrangements, grilled cheese and tomato soup hors d’oeuvres, a canoe bar, and mini pies. Guests could even create their own hot chocolate or apple cider drink and keep a handmade mason jar koozie as a gift. The grand reception entrances incorporated an ancient Viking ritual called bride-running where the two wedding parties would race to the meal and whoever lost would serve beer to the winning party all night long. This wedding truly embodied the boho/hippie theme and was absolutely beautiful!
