Zoe and Jon’s HOT Summer Barn Wedding in Lancashire by Rebecca Jones Photography

Happy Friday everyone! As we creep closer and closer to the end of the week I am SO excited for the weekend, as tomorrow Dexter and I are off to Lapland UK. We have been a few times now and I can honesty say it is the most magical place ever, we are both super excited! I am so full of Christmas cheer and can’t believe that the big day is nearly here! In comparison I have this super hot summer wedding to share with you today. Zoe and Jon held a civil partnership in Lancashire in August 2022, which just happened to be the hottest day of the year. The day was filled with the most beautiful wild flowers. a gorgeous handfasting ceremony and a totally laid back chilled vibe. Big thanks to .Rebecca Jones Photography for the lovely photos.

Very Hot!! It was on the hottest day of the year but it was lovely because we had sun and blue skies all day. It was everything we wanted and more, the whole day was absolutely beautiful.

Zoe and Jon were married on 13th August 2022 at Browsholme Hall in Lancashire. ‘We had been planning for a while and then when they legalized civil partnerships for heterosexual couples, that’s when we decided to go for it because that fitted what we wanted more. We had 50 guests and it took 2 years to plan.’

How they met
We met at sixth form college and we were friends for a while. We had been together 18 years when we had our wedding.

The proposal
No proposal because we never got engaged, we just decided on the civil ceremony together.

How did you allocate your budget?
We discussed what our budget was for each area of the wedding such as food, venue dressing and flowers etc…..and then we planned our timelines to make sure we had the money to meet each payment deadline. It took a lot of planning and organizing

Where did you splurge and where did you save?
Probably food and drink, flowers and venue dressing. We had help with my wedding dress and we used our own music during the day.

How did you choose your photographer?
I had looked around and found Rebecca online. I really liked her outlook on how to shoot weddings to capture the special moments.

The dress
My dress was a Watters dress, my shoes were from Joe Brown’s and my jewellery was from Honey Willow.

The suit and bridesmaids
The suits were from Marc Darcy. Flower girl dress was from Needle and Thread and the Bridesmaids dresses were from Kaleidoscope.

Theme or colour scheme?
Wild summer flowers and a rose and gold backdrop for the wedding breakfast set up.

Decoration
We had a wild flower arch and wild flower shepherd hook jars. Inside we had a lot of greenery and candles.

Food
We had a Greek mezze and pizzas in the evening

Wedding cake
A donut and tray bake tiered cake.

Entertainment
We had a live band, ice cream stand and outdoor games.

Who supplied the stationery?
Tavern Creative

Where did you go on your honeymoon?
We toured around Tuscany in Italy.

Personal touches
We had a War Hammer/ DnD theme because my partner loves it and it’s a running joke amongst our friends and family how much of a geek he is about it. So we had wedding favours and table planning with that theme. Jon painted little models for everyone! It took him ages.

Special moments
Gosh everything! The ceremony was perfect, the speeches were amazing, so was the food. Going off to have pictures done was a welcome breather. Everything was just beautiful.

Advice for other couples
Take your time planning, keep with what you want, not what other people may expect. Enjoy every minute!

Biggest surprise
My best friend did a surprise speech. My in-laws decorated their mini van to take me to the venue. Finally, just seeing everything for the first time, after all that planning, it was amazing to see it all out together.
