Andrea and Salvatore’s Boho Beach Wedding in Mexico by Amor Amor Weddings

Today I am taking you off to sunny Mexico for the gorgeous wedding of Andrea and Salvatore. They wanted a venue where they could add their own person touches to, somewhere that would let them bring their own style and grace to the venue and this they found in Villa la Joya. A beach side venue with views for days, created the perfect backdrop to their stunning day. Filled with glamour, opulence and the most breath-taking flowers and decoration, this wedding really is something special! I just adore the pampas grass and neutral tones, what a totally stunning day. Big thanks to  Adriana Weddings for the beautiful submission and planning and to Amor Amor Weddings for the stunning photos.

The most spectacular day filled with love, dancing, and fun! The weather, venue, ceremony, food, and music were absolutely perfect!

Andrea and Salvatore were married on 2nd December 2022 at Villa La Joya in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. ‘We really loved the beauty of the villa and the ability to customize the wedding however I like. We had 90 guests and it took one year to plan.’

How they met
We met at the Jersey Shore.  Our shore houses were right next to each other.  We have been together for almost 8 years.

The proposal
We went to the Jersey Shore with Sal’s family for a beach day.  It is something that happens many Sunday’s in the summer so I thought nothing of it.  Sal was insistent that we get “ice cream” in the middle of day so I walked with him to go “get it.”  He asked me on the way to come on the rocks that overlook the inlet.  After telling him no over and over I finally went on the rocks.  I saw a bottle in between the rocks that appeared to have paper in it.  He told me to grab the bottle and open it.  Thinking this was all strange, I said no and he grabbed the bottle. I then opened it to see the message inside.  It said “Will you marry me?”  Everyone on the beach that day cheered.  We walked back from the inlet and waiting was my whole family and dog.  It was the sweetest surprise and the perfect day!

How did you allocate your budget?
There were many non-negotiables that we were willing to spend on such as food, entertainment, and décor.

Where did you splurge and where did you save?
We splurged on flowers and décor. We saved by making certain little things ourselves such as the welcome bags and certain signs.

How did you choose your photographer?
We interviewed them and looked at their website and social media pages.

The dress
Dress- Enzoani. Shoes- Badgley Mischka

The suit and bridesmaids
Suit- Custom suit from Men’s Wearhouse. Bridesmaids- Revelry

Theme or colour scheme
The theme was boho style with neutrals and light pinks.

Flowers
A mixture of light pink boho style

Decoration
Tall floral centrepieces with boho style leaves, a boho-style floral arch for the ceremony, floating floral candle pieces in the pool, numerous string lights across the villa.

Food
Chicken breast stuffed with spinach, ricotta cheese and Parma ham. Fillet in black pepper sauce. Sea Bass fish in spinach and jalapeño sauce

Wedding cake
We had a 3 tier cake with different fillings for each tier- strawberry & cream, ganache, and white chocolate

Entertainment
We had 2 DJ’s- one we hired from Mexico and our friend who came as a guest played a set for an hour.  We also had a saxophone player.

Where are you going on your honeymoon?
Mediterranean cruise out of Barcelona this July

Personal touches
I personalized our signature drinks and made the signs.  The drinks catered to the town we met in and to my dog Jax.  I also made the favour signs for each table.

Special moments
The first look with my dad was the most special to me.  A highlight is our Officiant’s speech for Sal & I.  He did an incredible job making us laugh hysterically, easing our nerves!

Advice to other couples
To not worry so much what others think and to enjoy YOUR day.  Do not feel the need to cater to others, it is your one day that is all about you!  Also, just have fun and be in the moment! It goes so fast! A piece of advice someone gave to us was to take a step back from the reception for 3 minutes and stand in the back and just watch everyone enjoying themselves. Take it all in. Watching everyone dancing and laughing makes all the planning, stress, and money all worth it!

Biggest surprise
When Sal cried during our first look! I have never, ever seen him cry before! It made the moment even more special.
