The proof is in the planning. When it comes to planning the perfect wedding, is...
With the weather getting warmer here in the UK, spring really does feel like it is just around the corner. The clocks go forward this weekend, which means lighter evenings and hopefully the end of winter! So today I wanted to bring you some super fun spring wedding inspiration with this gorgeous ‘citrus fun’ styled shoot. The shoot took place at Nova Place in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in June 2020. I absolutely LOVE this shoot, it is so fun and fresh and just full of the most amazing colours. The vibrant greens, oranges and yellows really pop against the hot pink. The flowers are amazing, that cake is out of this world, and the balloons are just SO pretty! I adore the styling and the colour scheme, so much fun! This shoot really has got me excited for spring! Bring on the sunshine! Big thanks to Dawn Derbyshire Photography and the team involved for these amazing photos.
We sought to bring to life the bright colors and youthful vibes of fresh lemons, limes, and clementine oranges. A color palette of butter yellow and sage green softened the saturated hues of lime green, yellow, orange, and magenta. Of course, lots and lots of fresh citrus fruits were incorporated into the decor for pops of both color and fun! Community Flower Shop perfectly executed our floral vision with zinnias, ranunculus, peonies, snapdragons, craspedia, and more. Many of these blooms were even grown locally right in Pittsburgh! From the bridal bouquet tied with magenta wire for a modern spin to the table centerpiece accented with pouf of fresh buds and citrus fruits, each aspect of the floral design had a unique touch.
Tasty Bakery is known for their jaw-dropping creations and this three-tiered confection did not disappoint. A hand-painted watercolor look met an ombre effect in the fondant covered cake that was finished with candied citrus slices and fresh flowers. It was atop a lemon-striped linen from Mosaic for a display that was just too perfect. In case that doesn’t satisfy your sweet tooth, don’t miss our dessert and beverage station full of orange macarons, lemon sugar cookies, bubbly grapefruit drinks, and citrus infused water.
To match the playful feel of this editorial, Luna Boutique styled our bride in an effortlessly beautiful two-piece dress that would make dancing and partying easy. Community Flower Shop adorned the bride’s shoes with fresh flower buds for a peak of uniqueness that could be seen anytime the skirt’s slit swished in the breeze.
Our tablescape was set up on the lush lawn of Nova Place to mimic al fresco dining. A seersucker-like Mosaic linen in pastel yellow and green stripes provided a whimsical vibe while brightness came courtesy of the floral centerpiece and fresh fruit accents. Rattan chargers and crisp white dishware from Eventioneers sat at white chiavari chairs, while a circular magenta menu card from Oh Joyful Day greeted each guest. The place settings were finished off with a whole lime tagged with a custom hand-lettered flag for a personalized touch. In addition to creating the juiciest of stationery, Oh Joyful Day whipped up several signs and a seating chart that featured artful hand-lettering.
The real show-stopper of this styled shoot was the balloon and floral backdrop crafted by Community Flower Shop and Funk Balloon. Balloons are so youthful and fun, making them a great addition to this style. They are not often seen in wedding decor but we wanted to showcase them in a modern, chic way. The striking backdrop – which would be perfect for a ceremony or portraits – did just that.
