Hannah and Joshua’s Dusky Pink and Green Kent Farm Wedding by Sandra Reddin

Happy Friday everyone and what a week it’s been. It started off with my birthday which was lovely and normally sees the beginning of spring and now we are in a full blown winter blizzard! Who knew we could get THIS much snow!! What’s it like where you are? Here in Sheffield it hasn’t stopped since Wednesday afternoon! Dexter’s school shut yesterday and isn’t opening today, hopefully things will be  a bit more back to normal by Monday. So today we are heading off to the park for a spot of sledging and snow person building! To warm you up a bit I am taking you back to last summer for this gorgeous Kent farm wedding. The wedding is super chilled and filled with rustic chic decoration, from the beautiful blooms to the naked wedding cake. Big thanks to Sandra Reddin for the lovely photos.

Everyone and everything that I loved together for one day. Cheesy, but it truly was the best day of our lives!

Hannah and Joshua were married on 30th July 2022 at Kent Life, Kent. ‘We loved that it was on a working farm and all of our guests would have lots to enjoy throughout the day. We didn’t want our wedding to be too formal and this ensured that we could have a chilled day surrounded by those that we love. We had 90 guests, it took 4 years to plan the wedding, (It should have been 3 but Covid got in the way)’

How they met
We met at work (we are both primary school teachers) and have been together 7 years

The proposal
We went to Bali for Hannah’s mums 50th birthday as Hannah’s family live in Singapore and we were staying in a beautiful villa with a pool. We decided to have a night to ourselves with a candlelit dinner by the pool. Josh was being quite odd and jittery after the main meal and said he needed the loo. Little did I know he was actually going to get the ring! When he came back from the loo he moon-walked into the kitchen area so that I didn’t see it in his pocket. Just after dessert was served he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!

How did you allocate your budget?
The venue was the most important and that’s where a lot of our budget went. We also have some very generous family who helped us out along the way!

Where did you splurge and where did you save?
We splurged on flowers and saved on our wedding cake as a friend made it for us (it was perfect!)

How did you choose your photographer?
Sandra was the photographer at Josh’s cousins wedding and the pictures were just amazing! Sandra managed to capture every moment so perfectly and naturally which is just what we wanted. We didn’t want a staged wedding shoot and the moment I spoke to Sandra I knew that her and her son were the perfect choice for us.

The dress
Wedding dress and veil – Made with Love. Shoes – Jimmy Choos. Jewellery – My mum’s

The suit and bridesmaids
Josh’s suit was from Harry Brown and his shoes were Russel and Bromley. Bridesmaids all chose their own dresses from a general colour scheme – I wanted them all to feel their most comfortable, authentic self.

Theme or colour scheme
A very loose colour scheme of dusky pinks and natural greens

Flowers
Peonies, Mondial roses, eucalyptus and orchids

Decoration
The wonderful Boo and Michelle at Blue Sky Bunting decorated the venue with ribbons, bunting and paper lanterns that complimented our flowers perfectly.

Food
Prawns and salmon to start, a roast dinner or vegetarian tart followed by Eton mess!

Wedding cake
Our wedding cake was made by Hannah’s lovely friend Leanne, who owns her own business. She made us a 3-tier semi-naked cake with three different flavours for each tier: Lemon, raspberry and white chocolate and salted caramel. We also had chocolate and vanilla cupcakes!

Entertainment
We had a lovely master of ceremonies and DJ called Mark. Mark kept the dancefloor alive all night long. We also had lawn games and a visit form a Shetland pony called Truffles!

Who supplied the stationery?
A small business on Etsy.

Where did you go on your honeymoon?
We went to the Maldives for 10 days – a once in a lifetime experience! It was just as the postcards suggest – sand, sea, cocktails, turtles, fish, stingrays and sharks!

Personal touches
Josh’s mum supplied flip flops for all of our guests so that no one would have tired feet and we provided a small basket in the toilets to freshen up – this went down an absolute treat!

Special moments
Being surrounded by our favourite people; watching everyone smile and laugh all day! The speeches were amazing and will always hold a special place our hearts.

Advice for other couples
Spend time with your partner at some point during the day (just the two of you) even if it’s only 5 minutes!
