Krista and Gabriel’s ‘Modern Boho’ Cream, Gold and Rust DIY Orlando Wedding by Allie and Joey

Hello everyone and how are you all? Today I am off to Cornwall for a couple of days to see my mum, it’s her birthday tomorrow so I’m going down for a flying visit. I’ve not seen her since Easter, so we are due a good catch up. Just 320 miles!! Eek. So before I head off on my travels please welcome Krista and Gabriel to the blog and their gorgeous cream, gold and rust wedding. This was meant to be an outdoor ceremony, but unfortunately the weather got the better of them, however the results of their indoor ceremony are just gorgeous, as are the reception. They added lots of DIY elements to their beautiful day, along with dried flowers, boho fans and peacock chairs. Thanks to Allie and Joey for the lovely photos.

Our wedding was a perfect representation of our relationship, reflected in all the details throughout the day. From the soft colours and dried elements in our florals, the DIY vases and decor, the romantic, moody feeling during our ceremony, all the way to the floor vibrations from dancing all night with our closest friends and family members.

Krista and Gabriel were married on 2nd April 2, 2022 at Tuscawilla Country Club in Orlando ‘It was the only place we toured and we fell in love instantly. The space, in-house catering/bar, and the wrap around second story porch and view were the main selling points for us. We had around 100 guests, we started planning in May 2021, so it took a little under a year.’

How they met
We met at work, actually. We both are speech pathologists and I (the bride) interned at his place of work. The rest was history! We’ve been together 5 years now.

The proposal
Gabriel proposed in Seattle, Washington at the top of the Smith Tower. They have an observatory deck on the top floor that overlooks the city. We wanted to watch the sunset and take pictures on the deck. As our friends were taking pictures of us outside, Gabriel grabbed my hands and started to tell me how much he loved me. I knew in the moment what was about to happen and I couldn’t stop crying. It was the sweetest surprise!

How did you allocate your budget?
With the help of our families. They were so kind to help us pay for the wedding.

Where did you splurge and where did you save?
We splurged in florals, alcohol/beverage package, DJ/music and with the wedding dress. We saved in decor, venue rental, and groomsman suits.

How did you choose your photographer?
We found them on Instagram and fell in love with their work. They’re work is a direct reflection of how wonderful they are in person as well!

The dress
My dress was by Martina Liana Bridal. Shoes were Badgley Mischka and accessories were gifts from different family members – diamond studs from the groom the day of the wedding, Swarovski diamond bracelet from my in-laws, and diamond necklace passed down from my grandmother (it was her wedding ring diamond I have turned into a necklace).

The suit and bridesmaids
Rental suits from Generation Tux and bridesmaids dresses from Petal and Pup.

Theme or colour scheme
Boho modern on a budget. Blush, cream, white, gold, and rust

Flowers
Different types of roses with dried florals (pampas, bleached fern, bunny tail)

Decoration
Boho: painted vases, peacock chairs, boho fans, small lit candles

Food
Crab Rangoon, meat and cheese table, and veggie spring rolls, chicken or steak entree, with potatoes and broccolini

Wedding cake
Strawberry champagne flavour, vanilla rum flavour and raspberry vanilla flavour

Entertainment
We hired a DJ and MC for the night

Stationery
Online from Minted

Where did you go on your honeymoon?
We went on a cruise that went to Mexico and Honduras

Personal touches
A lot of the items for decor were thrifted and restored for the wedding day

Special moments
How romantic our ceremony was. The room we held our ceremony in had windows all around and the weather (it was raining quite hard outside) made the ceremony feel so intimate and romantic. Our vows were my favorite part of the wedding.

Advice for other couples
Try to remember that your wedding day is about you and you can’t always please everyone! Have fun and don’t stress about the small things!

Biggest surprise
The weather surprised us! We were meant to get married outside, but God had other plans! And it worked out perfectly, even better than we imagined.
