Julie and Sergei’s Dramatic Yet Simple Illinois Wedding with Chinese Tea Ceremony

Happy Wednesday everyone and Happy 1st of December. For me it is now officially Christmas, I like to celebrate Christmas for the whole month of December, I just LOVE it!! The advent calendar is out, the elf on the shelf is up to no good and the Christmas countdown has well and truly begun! What about you? What are your thoughts on when Christmas starts? It’s a two post day today, this afternoon I am introducing you to a wonderful Sheffield based photographer but now it’s time to share this gorgeous wedding with you. Julie and Sergei were married on 18th June 2021 at Champaign, Illinois. Their planners designed a wedding for them that was both dramatic but in a simplistic way, marrying earthy tones with rich fabrics. The decor was a wonderful mixture of subtle with deep rich colours. It also included a traditional Chinese tea ceremony to celebrate Julie’s heritage. Big thanks to Inspire Your for the lovely submission and to Deidre Lynn Photography for the beautiful images.

Inspire Your tells us more about the day

We created a dramatic yet simple wedding design to balance the the couples personality and aesthetics. We created a dramatic setting with the use of colors and velvet table drapes. Then balanced the look with simple earthy, homespun and organic elements in the florals, place settings and place cards. The most unique aspect of the wedding was the traditional Chinese ceremony in which they included with the all the wedding guests, with cups as their guest’s favor.
