Rachel and Stuart’s Simple and Natural Outdoor Treehouse Wedding by Daz Mack

Today’s wedding comes from one if the most gorgeous wedding locations I believe we have in the UK and one I have featured a number of times on the blog.  Alnwick Treehouse is a stunning location in Northumberland set amongst the tree tops, boasting the most amazing backdrop for any wedding, which is why Rachel and Stuart chose it for their day. As the venue itself was so unusual, they didn’t feel it needed much decoration, so they kept the tables simple and added to it with homemade fudge favours and simple, natural touches. They held the ceremony outside, making the most of the location and then partied into the night. A fantastic day, captured beautifully by Daz Mack.

‘It was fantastic, perfect for myself and Stuart’

Rachel and Stuart were married on 22nd September 2018 at Alnwick Treehouse in Northumberland. ‘The reason we decided on the Treehouse is because it’s a Treehouse and it was something different and the venue was absolutely beautiful. There were around 67 guests,  we booked the venue around January 2017 and the photographer and DJ shortly after and then the rest just over a year before the wedding.’

How they met
We met on a night out and been together every since, over 7 years ago.

The proposal
We were on a family holiday to Florida with my parents, sister and her partner. We went to Disney’s Magic Kingdom and after the firework show, Stuart asked if we could go off and have a picture by the Walt Disney Statue, which was outside the Castle. Once we were on our own, Stuart started looking through his bag, he then said “You know I love you, well will you marry me?” and of course I said “YES”. It was the perfect proposal, it was in my favourite place to the perfect guy.

How did you allocate your budget?
We had a rough budget in mind. 55% on the venue, 5% on the dress, 10% on photographer, 10% on hen and stag and then the rest we fitted in to our budget.

Where did you splurge and where did you save?
The most expensive spend was the venue and photographer, which was the worth every penny. The invites did not cost much at all, I ordered them from Etsy. I looked for bridesmaid dresses over Black Friday and got the men’s suits in the sale.

How did you choose your photographer?
I was looking online for photographers based in the North East and I came across Daz Macks page and loved his pictures straight away.

The dress
I can’t remember the designer of the dress but I got it in a shop called “Trouousseaux” in Swindon. My shoes were from “Primark” the hairband was from “Buckingham Palace” in their gift shop jewellers and the veil, my seamstress made it.

The suit and bridesmaids
The Bridesmaid Dresses were from “ChiChi London and their shoes were from “ASOS”. The men’s shirts and waist coats were from “Moss Bros” their trousers were from “ASOS” and their shoes were from “Newlook”

Theme or colour scheme
There wasn’t really a colour scheme, just soft neutral colours.

Flowers
There was a lot of Gypsophila in jars around the venue and then myself and the bridesmaids had the same flowers.

Decoration
Very simple decorations as the venue itself was beautiful and didn’t need much to it. All the rest were handcrafted by myself and my family.

Food
The guests had a choice between 3 starters, mains and dessert. There were some canapes after the ceremony and the sweet stand and bacon sandwiches in the evening.

Wedding cake
The wedding cake was a 4-tier cake, each layer was a different flavour. Chocolate, millionaire shortbread, Raspberry and Lavender and the final layer was Lemon and Elderflower.

Entertainment
After the ceremony we had an acoustic guitarist and, in the evening, we had a DJ.

Who supplied the stationery?
The save the dates and invites were from Etsy. The information packs, menu choices and place settings we made ourselves on PowerPoint and then had them printed.

Personal touches
We made our own centre pieces, we made drinks tokens and made and printed the signs and we had homemade fudge for all the guests.

Special moments
Honestly everything was perfect and special, being with all our friends and families. Everyone dancing on the dance floor having fun.

Advice for other couples
Plan well for what you want, not what everyone else wants and then just relax and enjoy every moment

Biggest surprise
Seeing my ideas and visions come to life, everyone enjoying themselves. The dance full from the first to the last song and most of all Stuart’s speech.
