Hina and Joachim’s Bright and Beautiful Outdoor Tuscany Wedding by Esther and Gabe

Happy Friday everyone, have you made it to the end of the week in one piece? It’s been a funny one here at Boho HQ, trying to juggle work and the Easter holidays has been a struggle this week, so I’m looking forward to a bit of normality again next week. Tomorrow Nik and I have a rare night out as we are off to Matlock for my good friends 20th wedding anniversary party! Today I have a cinema and lunch date with Dexter as I start my weekend a day early. While that’s all going on though, I have this rather lovely Outdoor Tuscany Wedding for you from wedding planner Chiara Sernesi. Hina and Joachim booked her to help put their dream day together and by the sounds of their write-up she did an amazing job. The whole wedding looks fabulous, the colours, flowers, dream catches, the ceremony area, all so gorgeous. As for the reception area, just stunning! All captured beautifully by Esther & Gabe.

Fun, laid back and lots of laughter. It was beyond amazing, an absolutely perfect day from start to finish.

Hina and Joachim were married on 16th September 2017 at Villa Montefiano. Fiesole – Florence – Tuscany. Since I´m Norwegian and Hina is Swedish, guest would have to travel anyways if we were to have the wedding in Norway or Sweden. We started looking at Italy and France and fell for Italy in the end. We both love to travel and we both love good food and wine, so Italy felt absolutely right. Hina got in touch with an amazing wedding planner (Chiara Sernesi) and she helped us pick the location. We had 60 guests and we started planning a year in advance and went down to Florence to se different locations and venues.’

How they met
We met on Tinder 2 years ago and have been inseparable ever since

The proposal
We had talked about getting married but didn´t have any concrete plans. I bought a vintage diamond ring for Hina on vacation in USA and brought it back to Norway. The proposal was laidback and lowkey, just like us. I had plans on doing it at our apartment and surprise Hina when she got back from work. She was there in the morning when I got back from the airport to surprise me, really sweet of her but it kind of ruined my proposal plans. So I had to postpone it to later that day. I knew she hated public, over the top proposals, so I just asked her while sitting in our bed and she said yes!

How did you allocate your budget?
What budget? (We went way overboard) but it was worth it. Thank God we had a wedding planner that controlled us, and helped us save and cut back where saving could be done. Chiara is the best!

Where did you splurge and where did you save?
We saved on the flowers and ordering stationary from Etsy. The wedding planner also had a friend that generously offered to play the violin, free of charge, very generous! We splurged on the food, wine and drinks! We didn´t want anyone to go hungry or thirsty that day.

How did you choose your photographer?
We originally chose a different photographer, but he cancelled a month before the wedding. Our wedding planner put us in touch with Gabe (Esther & Gabe – Fine art wedding photography) and he had time to shoot our wedding. We’re so happy thing turned out the way they did, so that Gabe ended up being our photographer! He’s a really nice guy and a great photographer. Our guest frequently talks about him because he has such a lovely personality and made everyone feel so comfortable.

The dress
“Madonna” in Warsaw, Poland. Shoes were from a local store in Norway. The jewellery was also bought in Poland.

The suit
Tuxedo by Ferner Jacobsen, Oslo Norway.

Theme or colour scheme
We´re not shy on colours, the more colour the better. Multicolored flowers and dinner plates.

Flowers
Mixed multicolored flowers and green leaves.

Decoration
Lots of flowers and leaves, balloons, dream catchers, macramé and a carpeted aisle in front of the ceremony area.

Food
First course: Homemade Mezzelune stuffed with pecorino cheese, with pear velouté and toasted pine-nuts
Second course: Champagne and lemon sea bass fillet on a bed of vegetables, dressed with extra virgin olive oil
Third course: Beef fillet with Brunello di Montalcino wine sauce, potato pie and breen bean bouquet with sweet bacon.
Dessert: Wedding Cake
Cakes: Hot gourmandises, homemade pralines and Tartufini

Wedding cake
A traditional Italian wedding cake. It was made by the chef, on the spot in front of the guests.

Entertainment
We had a dj. There are also a lot of speeches in Scandinavian weddings. We also did an alternative first dance that started off with slow dance and ended up with a crazy Bhangra dance with Pakistani props.

Who supplied the stationery?
Ordered from etsy.com

Personal touches
We ordered all the stationary costumed made from etsy. We also packed and assembled all of the partyfavours. We were involved throughout the planning process so the wedding would reflect our personalities.

Special moments
To see each other for the first time at the alter. To see the lovely job the wedding planner had done. To see all of our loved ones and listen to all the wonderful speeches. It was a perfect day!

Advice for other couples
Start planning way ahead. Don´t stress about things you can´t control. Remember to delegate assignments to your friends, so that people know whom to contact if they have any questions. Last but not least; enjoy your day; the day is over before you know it!

Biggest surprise
The dry ice cocktails that were fuming with smoke, And the fantastic wedding cake and wedding cake show (made by the chef in front of the guests)
