As we head deeper into winter the weather seems to be getting worse and worse. For that reason I thought the time was right for another glorious destination wedding to bring some sunshine into your rain filled day. Todays couple Keri and Matt desided on a Tuscany wedding after falling in love with Italy and the results are quite stunning. They kept the day very classy and elegant with ‘rustic romance’ as their theme. Lots of classic white mixed with a few accents of blush pink and green and THE most amazing location. All these aspects go towards creating a totally breathing wedding. Big thanks to Helen Abraham Photography for the beautiful images.
Keri and Matt were married on 4th September 2015 at Pieve De Pitti, Tuscany, Italy. ‘We loved the idea of getting married abroad and Matt proposed in Venice so we decided to continue our Italian story and marry there. We wanted a relaxed wedding with our closest friends and family so Tuscany was the perfect location. We had 87 guests in total and it took 18 months to plan’
How they met
We met at work 4 years ago
The Proposal
Matt surprised me with a weekend away in Venice for Valentines and proposed to me under the Rialto bridge on a romantic Gondola ride on Valentines day.
How did you allocate your budget
For us the most important thing was to celebrate over a few days with our closest friends and family and create the perfect setting for our actual wedding day and have a party and celebration with friends that we would give us the best lifetime memories
Where did you splurge and where did you save
I wouldn’t say we splurged or tried to save money, as it was important to us we didn’t try and cut any corners – we wanted everything perfect but we were also sensible with what we could afford within our budget.
How did you choose your photographer
Our photographer was the first thing we booked! As soon as we got engaged we knew Helen was our perfect photographer. Matt and Helen worked together several years ago and we both love her style. She captures the most beautiful photos and they bring to life the mood and atmosphere of the day.
The Dress
Dress: Maggie Sottero (absolutely LOVED it) Accessories: Gillion Million, Shoes: Rainbow
The Suit and Bridesmaids
Matt’s suit we had tailored made along with the groomsmen suits. Brides were in Dessy dresses
Theme or Colour Scheme
We wanted a very classic look so went for mainly white with a touch of blush pink
Flowers
I had pure white flowers (roses, Stocks, lisianfeus, gyposophila and phlox) with green foliage.
Decoration
We had a very rustic and romantic feel to day – an assortment of white flowers, candles scattered around and hanging from trees, hanging lights and lanterns.
Food
We kept to Italian tradition: We had champagne and selection of meats, breads and canapes to start and added an English twist by servicing pimms in a jam jars too
To start we had 2 courses of pasta. As our main course we had roasted ham, Tuscan beans, salad and potatoes. Desert we had limoncello and sorbet
Wedding Cake
5 tiered cake with 3 different sponges (Chocolate, vanilla and lemon)
Entertainment
We had a band playing – the Dusty Peddlers. Who were incredible and fitted perfectly with our rustic setting.
The Stationery
Card Lab – they were great.
Personal or Handmade Touches
Yes we designed our own personal messages and signs for our guests and special little personal touches for the day.
Special Moments
The ceremony itself was beautiful, seeing one another for the first time and making our commitment to one another in front of our closest friends and family. Every moment of the day was special, we loved every minute of it and the build up to the day.
Advice to other couples
Just remember the day is about the two of you and enjoy every minute of it.
Biggest surprise
How quickly the day goes.
