Andreas and Malin’s ‘Bohemian Midsummer Night’s Dream’ Rustic Elegance Swedish Wedding by Aase Pouline

I have the most adorable wedding for you today, as I jet you off to Sweden for the gorgeous wedding of Malin and Andreas. They wanted to keep the natural elements of the outside that they loved, yet mix it with some elegant touches. With this idea they came up with the theme of ‘Bohemian Midsummer Nights Dream’ and mixed in rustic elements coupled with some gorgeous elegant touches. The lovingly put together macrame backdrop was made by them, as was the stationery and the decoration. So many gorgeous hand-made details all go to make this wedding a real beauty, all captured perfectly by Aase Pouline.

It was all we ever wanted, and more. Magical, beautiful and filled with great memories.

Malin and Andreas were married on 5th August 2017 In the countryside close to Ängelholm, south of Sweden. The ceremony was outside and the reception in an old stable. ‘We wanted a small venue close to nature. We wanted the rustic environment, but still with an elegant touch. We had 55 guests and it took one year to plan. We planned it all by ourselves, every tiny detail was carefully planned.’

How they met
We met on a blind date at a dinner party. It was love at second sight half a year later. We have been together for four years.

The proposal
We decided to buy rings in a bathtub in Iceland. We got engaged in the national park Thingvellir the day after and celebrated with a dinner at Harpa concert hall in Reykjavik. One year later Andreas surprised Malin with a second ring at Hotel Costes in Paris, sharing the news that the date and wedding location was booked.

How did you allocate your budget?
We did almost everything ourselves, with help from friends and family, which made it possible to get all we ever dreamed of.

Where did you splurge and where did you save?
We invested a lot of thought and money on decoration to create the perfect atmosphere. We did not save on anything specific but we made every penny count.

How did you choose your photographer?
We found Pouline online and decided to contact her since she had an attractive website. She had a feeling in her photography that appealed to us. When we first met her she immediately knew what we were looking for in our wedding pictures.

The Dress
The dress was by Mango Suit, shoes Dune, waistband Lilly, flower crown and bouquet by Julia Strandahl at Växtshopen, wedding ring Sandbergs Sweden.

The suit and bridesmaids
The suit was Ralph Lauren, his shoes Lagerfeld, tie Neckwear and wedding ring Sandbergs Sweden. The bridesmaids wore Little Mistress and Maya Maternity, both from Asos.

Personal touches
Everything had personal touches, invitations, menu, decorations and flowers. We made the makrame backdrop together, knot by knot, wow that takes time!

Special moments
When the heavy rain stopped 30 minutes before the ceremony and the sun came out. And saying yes of course!

Advice for other couples
Do as much as you can by yourselves. Then you will have the most personal wedding.

Biggest surprise
Bride: When I got an additional ring at the ceremony
Groom: That I got so overwhelmed by emotions

My favourite stories to tell are those including laugh wrinkles, happy tears, confetti bombs and love – all at once. What got me hooked on wedding photography is the ability to freeze those little moments and create images that when you look back at in five, twenty, fifty years still make you feel like it was just yesterday. Based in Sweden, available worldwide.
