Happy Monday everyone, how was your weekend? I hope you had a great fireworks night and managed to make the most of your local displays. I was out 3 nights in a row this weekend, which is totally unheard of! A girls night on Friday night, and then Saturday and Sunday at 2 different fireworks displays with Nik and Dexter, both were fab and we had so much fun, I can’t wait for next year!
Back to the blog and this weeks real weddings. We start by whisking you off to sunny spain for this beautiful clifftop wedding, filled with amazing Boho vibes and stunning decor. The wedding was planned and submitted by Anna from Ambrosia Weddings and she did a wonderful job of creating this laid back, intimate destination wedding. Julia and Stefan look super happy and are rocking their own boho style. Such a sweet and stylish wedding, the perfect way to start the week. Big thanks to Eloy Munuz for the wonderful images.
Julia and Stefan were married on 19th June 2017 on the top of a cliff near Agua Armarga. “We’ve been on holiday to Andalucia for the last 3 years and fell in love with the country. Anna from Ambrosia Weddings did most of the planning and we just needed to make the decisions! The planning started approx 6-months before the wedding with 21 guests including us.”
How they met
We met on 1st May 2009 on a party and officially came together Christmas 2010.
The Proposal
I (Stefan) won a trip for two to the East Coast of the US on the radio. In 2015, we were sitting on the balcony of our apartment in New York with a great view on the Brooklyn Bridge. At 9pm – right before the great firework for the Independence Day started – I got down on my knees, read the letter I wrote for Julia and took out the engraved rings. And… she said yes, then we raised glasses and enjoyed the beautiful fireworks at the Brooklyn Bridge.
How did you allocate your budget?
We told Anna our budget and she worked with it.
Where did you splurge and how did you save?
Splurged on the apartment, food and photos and saved on the number of guests we invited.
Why did you choose your photographer?
Anna sent us a couple of references and Eloy Munoz captured the most beautiful pictures.
The Dress
In Germany it’s tradition to have 3 things: something old, something blue and something borrowed. The jewellery was blue and borrowed, the shoes were old but comfortable. The dress was from the internet.
The Suit and Bridesmaids
The groom didn’t wear a suit, because that just wouldn’t have suited this wedding. The bridesmaids – like everybody else – wore what they wanted to, so everybody felt as comfortable as possible.
Theme or colour scheme
The scheme of the decoration was desert wedding: simple, but expressive.
Flowers
The bride’s bouquet was made of roses and peonies. For the decoration we decided to include roses as well.
Decoration
Bohemian style, mixed with gold, wood, candles and other illumination.
Food
Different kinds of tapas and barbeque. And a late-night-schnitzel for the groom!
Wedding Cake
The wedding cake was a small biscuit cake covered with a white fondant.
Entertainment
Our family and friends prepared an overwhelming 20 minute movie, shown on a big screen. After this emotional moment we got on the dancefloor where cocktails were served and everybody danced to our favourite party/dancing songs. Later on that night almost everybody (including the bride in her wedding dress) jumped into the pool and kept on partying!
Who supplied the stationery?
The table stationary was made by Anna from Ambrosia Weddings. She designs the stationary always together with the wedding concept from the bride and groom.
Personal Touches
We brought the lampions for the dancefloor and the little sunshade (umbrella) for the bride’s grandmother.
Special Moments
The place where the ceremony took place, the dinner, the movie and the party including the “pool-time”.
Advice for other couples
Don’t plan the wedding as you think it would be perfect for others. Plan it in a way that you and your guests feel comfortable the most.
Biggest Surprise
The movie of our friends and family.
what a stunning location! Love all the feather details too.
Congratulations to Julia and Stefan. What a lovely setting beside the sea. Beautiful pictures. Thanks for sharing.
